Comments about Tascam DR-100 MKII Portable Digital Recorder:

This rig does what they say it will, and does it well. It's easy to use, has a simple user interface, intuitive controls, and records clean with no extraneous noise. I used mine to record a jam session at my son's wedding. He's a guitar player, and several of his guests sat in on the session, so I wanted to capture it for posterity. Using a stereo pair of Rode M5 condensors and the DR100mkII, it was a simple set up and yielded a great recording. Battery life was good-to-excellent, even using phantom power (2+ hours record time at 16bit/44.1kHz .wav files).
I'm glad I picked up this unit, and look forward to doing more performance recording in the future.

    TASCAM DR 100 comes through

    By Peter Churchill

    from Stockton, CA

Comments about Tascam DR-100 MKII Portable Digital Recorder:

Does everything it says it will do and then some. The $330 may seem like too much to pay but if you want an almost natural sound using voice or instruments that is easy to carry and set-up, this is the unit to get. Read the directions carefully! Nothing complicated but you will save time when making recordings and get the results you want. Buy a good set of headphones - like Sennheiser's- to fully enjoy your work. I also purchased the Delkin JamMedia PRO 8GB SD Memory Card because I wanted the media technology and the recording space. For about $420, you will have a great portable recording unit. Oh, yes, invest in a tripod. It makes a difference where and how you use the TASCAM DR 100 for recording sessions.

    Great Piece of Electronics

    By Jean Joseph _

    from Atlanta, GA

Comments about Tascam DR-100 MKII Portable Digital Recorder:

I purchased this recorder because I needed to solve some audio headache I always had to deal with in my videos productions. It's light, convenient, easy to carry, the remote control made it easier to operate at a distance, and it can be mounted on a tripod. I am a professional wedding videographer shooting mostly weddings. After the event I always have to ask the DJ's to copy the event playlist, and the Bride playlist CD. The DJ's so far never mind to give me the CD's and the playlist they even mail me playlist home. DJ's are cool guys, but I have to seat for at lest 30 hours to edit and insert the songs in my video and mix it with the ambient sound to finally produce an acceptable audio to a picky audio maniac like me. Now with this Tascam DR-100 MKII, I can control my sound input directly from the DJ's output with my XLR inputs with level control. It took me less than 12 hours to get more decent audio to my video. Now I can add 24 bit audio resolution to my video. I don't worry about how my camera and my shotgun mike can handle audio anymore. This little piece of equipment is really a life saver to me.
