So far so good! They have a big sound for their size. Clean and good expression. The low-end is soft but a good deal for the price and size.
i was in the market for some small mons to check mixes and stumbled on these little badboys. build quality is surprisingly great, heavy and solid. they sound extremely balanced and natch with no honk, chestiness, boxiness or tin. honestly i have never heard 3" speakers sound this good. they even go down to 45Hz.(?!) i actually passed a test tone of about 42 which blew my mind. teac nailed this one. gripes? only that they are NOT shielded and i had to dig around in the OM to find that, a bit shady if you ask me. anyway, they're 3" drivers so the magnets are probably too small to do any serious damage to drives but just to be safe place them a couple of feet away on either side. also, they are only 12W each so don't expect party volumes. very pleased. highly recommend.
I am very happy with these gems! I produce electronic dance and happen to have my mixing desk at a right angle to my screen with my HR-824 flanking it. I needed a set of monitors with very limited footprint in front of me for simple/non precise tasks...these more than solved it and are much better than any computer speakers. Great job Tascam!
