I bought this about 3 months ago, and man it's more than I could ask for for only $300! The 8 mic inputs are really useful, and the preamps have pretty nice headroom. You can turn the gain up high without worrying about any hiss or buzz. I record drums with this all the time and I haven't had any issues at all with it. I highly suggest this to anyone who is recording drums and doesn't want to spend tons of money on an interface.
I wanted a reliable interface for my computer recording. I used Alesis and got ok results, but I needed more mic inputs for drums, this does the trick. However there is not as much gain on each input as I'd like , and a bit of noise when phantom power is turned on or off. Other than those two negatives there is a very clean signal from mic to DAW software. I know some pro engineers that use this, they suggested I get it and I am very happy I did. I highly recommend this!
Ihave the tascam 2488 but wanted to purchase a interface so i could record into my computer with more of an industry standard type of format and the us 1800 comes with cubase le5 works great recordings are very clean.I couldnt beat the price for this unit especially on a budget.I would reccommend this unit for anyone looking to being there own producer.
