Eight mic/line inputs plus an additional six line inputs offer enough channels to give every instrument and voice a chance to shine and the included Cubase LE, Version 4, offers state-of-the art recording power to craft the right mix.
Small enough to fit into only one rackspace, this TASCAM interface is ideal for both studio and portable computer recording, and since the mic/line inputs are on the front panel, there's no need for crawling behind a rack to get going. On the rear panel, however, there are four balanced line inputs for interfacing with synths, effects, mic preamps, or anything with a line level out. With the TASCAM US-1641 you'll also get up to 96kHz/24-bit resolution without having to lower the input/output count and zero-latency monitoring to prevent distracting delays for your performers during recording.
Besides Cubase LE, you'll also receive the TASCAM Continuous Velocity Piano (PC), a responsive piano virtual instrument powered by GVI in VSTi format. Naturally, the US-1641 is ASIO, GSIF2, and CoreAudio compatible for use with Logic Pro, Digital Performer, Cubase, SONAR, Nuendo, Final Cut Pro, Soundtrack, Vegas, Live, GigaStudio, and most other audio recording software.

great buy!!!
this mixer is amazing! im in a band and we needed something to get us recorded, so i connected 5 mics for drums, 2 guitars, 1 bass...and we ha some ports left over...recorded flawlessly!!! if you need something to get your band recorded to get some demos out...this is your answer!

GET IT !
This thing is amazing! Smooth installation. Quiet. Pushed 7 drum mics and 2 guitars and a bass into it, and it didn't even flinch. If you have tried other units or looking for your first computer interface, GET THIS ONE. Love it!

great addition to your studio!
I bought this unit after having some bad luck with a presonus interface. I decided to go with this thing instead and have been pleased since the day I got it out of the box! Zero latency recording, great pres, the most simultaneous inputs for the money on the market! The only thing I would suggest is looking into upgrading the recording software that comes with it. There aren't a ton of post production options with Cubase LE 4. In short, if you're looking for an affordable but quality way to start up a project studio, buy this thing! Thank you Tascam!

TASCAM US-1641 USB 2.0 INTERFACE
This interface works killer with Apple products and/or Mac Operating Systems. DO NOT try to use it with Windows Vista however, the drivers that Tascam wrote for vista (32 bit AND 64 bit) totally suck, and it doesn't look like they plan on fixing them anytime soon. I wasn't impressed with the way it worked with XP either.
Buy the US-1641, buy a Mac, and melt people's faces off with this sonic weapon.
