      TASCAM US-144MKII USB 2.0 4-channel Audio/MIDI Interface (105631592)
Availability:

Offers better performance in a smaller package.

The Tascam US-144MKII seamlessly continues the worldwide success of its predecessor US-144 offering better recording quality from a USB MIDI interface further reduced in size. Since it doesn't require an additional power supply, this portable audio interface is perfect for creating 4-channel recordings from analog and digital sources with a laptop computer.

Two XLR microphone inputs with switchable phantom power and high-quality preamps are the basis for good-sounding recordings, while input signals can be listened to by headphones with zero latency. Line-level and digital sources or an instrument can be connected as well. The Tascam USB MIDI interface has separate level controls for the line and headphones outputs, a mono switch, MIDI input and MIDI output, as well as a coaxial SPDIF output.

The US-144MKII interface supports sample rates up to 96 kHz at 24-bit resolution. While commercial audio CDs are produced at 44.1 kHz/16-bit, this interface offers you more than double the sample rate which means more detail for your recordings. (If you're fine with two audio channels and don't need a digital I/O, have a look at the Tascam US-122MKII.)

With our Guaranteed Lowest Price, you can be assured of complete satisfaction and the lowest available price, or your money back!

  • More than expected

As reviewed by Adam Coolich on 11/15/2009

This is a great interface. Setup was easy. Recorded audio sounds great. I got it mainly for the S/PDIF input so I can mixdown from my old Tascam 788. However, the US-144 is going to be a great transition to computer-based recording. Cubase LE4 is included with the hardware. I'm amazed that such a powerful program comes with the US-144. Tons of tracks, MIDI control, and a nice set of VST effects. The MIDI interface sync'd to my drum machine with no problems. Recording is fast and responsive with zero latency. All in all, the whole package is much more than I expected. You can't go wrong with Tascam, especially at this price.

  • Not with Vista 64bit

As reviewed by Steve Lawrie on 1/14/2010

I would not recommend this device to anyone with 64bit Vista. The drivers seem to be buggy, it crashes other apps that use audio (e.g. you have to unplug it when you use Youtube or Flash keeps crashing the browser). I updated drivers from the manufacturers website too, no improvement. The pops and crackles on audio recording with Cubase rendered it unuseable. In case you're wondering, I have a 2.4GHz QuadCore CPU with 4 GB of RAM, used a separate HDD for the audio files, disabled all extraneous services, etc etc. I could not believe it would not work, properly. Not recommending this device to anyone.

  • Confused about other reviews

As reviewed by Mike on 7/13/2010

I have a vista 32 bit. My computer i must say sucks, however this interface is better than i imagined. I was having trouble with looking for an interface (as there is so many) I even bought a cheap m-audio the first time and the quality was TERRIBLE. Tascam does a really good job, and when it is used correctly, it can produce really nice quality tracks.
