This was a replacement for my CD-BT1 (I dropped it and broke the LCD).
The BT2 has easier to understand controls than the previous model/version. However the LCD remains difficult to see at anything other than a direct on view.
Obviously since this is my second unit, I find the device is a valuable tool for learning and practicing. It also makes it very easy on the wife and neighbors by performing as a personal headphones/portable amplifier. I also can use the line-out to feed my normal amp and still utilize the other capabilities of the trainer...CD player, bass boost and cut etc. I recommend the trainer series. I also have the guitar trainer in the MP3 version.
This is my second CD-BT2. It took several years, but I wore the first one out. I the CD-BT2 ever time I practice. It is indespensable for figuring out the bass line of a song. Features I use frequently are 1)Tempo, which allows me to slow a song down, from a little to a lot without changing the pitch, so I can hear the indvidual notes in a bass line, 2)Loop, which allows me to loop a section I'm having rouble with, 3)Flash, which allows me to back up 3 seconds each time I press the Flash button, 4)Key, which allows me to key without changing the tempo.
There are also controls for boosting the bass output of the CD and effect for the bass if you've plugged you bass into the unit. There are controlls to fine tune the pitch of the CD to match the turning of your bass. I play my CD-BT2 through my PA, but the headphone feature works well too.
These units are very reliable. My first one started to play irratically, but I used it A LOT, especially the loop and temmpo controls.
In my openion, any serious bass player, student or professional, should own a CD-BT2.
I'm having a lot of fun with this new toy. I've never had anything like this before, so it's all new to me. It's easy to use, and the instructions for use are pretty easy to understand. It does the job of slowing things down to get the licks your after. At the really slow speeds, it does have a strange sound about it, but it's not distracting enough to be a problem, and you can still hear the licks at the proper pitch. It also works well if you want to hear a part in the higher ranges such as guitar or keys by filtering out the bass and then have a clean shot at the other parts. I really like the loop feature too. It's easy to use, and very helpful to be able to go over and over a section time and again to practice or learn a lick without having to stop. I do not regret my purchase at all. I just wish I had bought one sooner.
