Comments about T-Rex Engineering ToneTrunk 70-XL Pedal Board in Flight Case:
This is my first pedalboard, and it just might be my last because I can't imagine needing anything else! I did a lot of research, including testing out some other brands, and I knew that I wanted a 2-tier board. Most other brands are a single slanted surface, and it's too easy to step on the controls of the front row pedals when trying to reach the back row. The larger boards in the Tonetrunk series give you 2 tiers (or 3), which eliminates this problem. It's very solid, good quality aluminum, the finish is excellent, and I know it'll last a long time. I like the optional leveling brackets, although I wish there were more mounting options, but it's fine the way it is. It comes with velcro and zip ties, and the road case is huge!! I'd be very confident hitting the road with this board and case, but I wouldn't fly with it because the case doesn't have locks. The latches are high quality and are very tight/secure, though. My biggest complaint is that I can't fit my preferred power supply (Truetone 1-Spot Pro CS-12) under the frame because it's too thick, but the footprint is about the same as a wah, so I still have plenty of room on the top. Besides, that's not T-Rex's fault, and the Tonetrunk 70 is designed to work with T-Rex and Voodoo Lab power supplies. My only other complaint is that the edges are not rounded so they feel a little sharp, but it's certainly not a deal breaker for me. Overall, I think this is a great design that is extremely well made. If you've been thinking about this board and comparing pros and cons of some other brands, I'd highly recommend checking it out.
