This pedal is extremely easy to use, it has a great analog sound, and it's the solution to keep things simple. It offers 5 pedal features into 1 (Overdrive + Distortion + Delay + Reverd + Boost), meaning you do not have to worry about extra cables and connecting single effects. It comes in a very reasonable price. Comes with memory options which I love and makes everything very simple when performing life. The only minor detail is the tuner as a bonus feature. It only shows sharp, flat or on pitch and it does not show the note you are tuning, most of the time the tuner does not work so it can only be used as a mute option when playing life, other than that, it is a great pedal.

  • Great Grab-N-Go micro Fly Rig alternative

As reviewed by Kevin on 5/26/2014

Over the past couple years I have been subjected to many situations where I am traveling out to play a short show, artist spotlight etc etc etc, where it is totally impractical if not all but impossible to cart my personal gigging live rig (which is an Engl Powerball head, 2 TC electronic G-majors, power conditioner, Pedaltrain PT-Pro with midi controller and numerous dirt box's, wah, volume, wireless and depending on gig, a 1x12, 2x12 or 4x12 cab.) AND I am told that amps are back lined for use. Do I know what kind of amps are going to be there .... sometimes. Am I told what kind of amp is going to be there and like magic, its something totally different .... absolutely. That is where this thing, for me, shines. I can throw EVERYTHING in my MONO Vertigo bag with a TICK on it and here i come walking in with just ONE thing in my hands. Point me to my amp, doesn't matter much what it is, just set the controls flat (or as transparent as you can) and perform a few minor tweaks on the Magnus and off you go. The Magnus can be operated in both preset and stomp box mode and I keep it in preset mode so I can have varying levels of gain, feedback on the delay and depth on the verb. It takes me about 5 minutes or less to get it tweaked up to whatever amp I may have it plugged into. Does it replace my main rig, or even come close ... honestly NO ... but the Magnus is worth its weight in gold. It has really good tone, it is inexpensive (i really don't worry about losing it or damaging it, other than having to redo my presets after replacement) The Magnus features an Overdrive WITH Boost, Distortion, Delay, Reverb and Tuner ... as stated earlier it can be operated in either Stompbox or Preset mode. There was an earlier review that was less than kind on the Magnus for lack of a Chorus. In the Magnus' defense it has an option on the Reverb called LFO and what it does is adds modulation (essentially chorus) to the reverb tail. Of course, it doesn't have flanges and gates and phasers and pitch shifters like many of the other small format multi effects put out there by other manufacturers, but it DOES however give you a VERY real, natural & touch sensitive and sounding overdrive and distortion, which most other said units epic fail at providing. I think the tradeoff boils down to do you want EVERY effect ever made and all of them being less than stellar. Or, as my experience with the Magnus, do you want a handful of the basic nuts and bolts that you can trust and rely on getting you through the tight spots and sound (especially for the price tag) pretty damn good doing it. Now, as a tag to the end of this ... what i travel and play is predominantly country and southern rock ... if i pulled out this pedal and attempted to tear into modern metal or anything with the scooped high gain wall of Mesa Boogie sound, yeah, your not going to be happy. The Magnus does NOT have the super scooper dizzying high gain/fuzz attack that leaves your eyebrows burnt off! That is my experience, your mileage may and will likely vary.

  • Missed the boat ?

As reviewed by Gerald Leathers on 9/3/2013

I wish these companies would actually talk to real guitar players. Seriously, anyone who likes Reverb, probably already has it on their amp, so why waste one pedal spot on reverb? Plus, using delay lightly could simulate Reverb if needed. I would think Chorus or Chorus/Flanger would have been 100% better choice. I would have bought this immediately if it would have had Chorus instead of reverb, as it stands, it's useless as a multi-effect to get me through a gig......sad.
