The Svetlana 6L6 Tube produces classic Sylvania STR sound.
I finally bought these tubes after years of using EL34s. I decided to go with the Red/Soft Svetlana tubes because not only are they Russian, but they are the least expensive duet I can find anywhere! When they arrived, I could immediately feel the tube responding to my playing. It has a very nice, tight clean and a wonderful, smooth breakup. For the price, I thought I may be compromising quality, but it has so far surpassed my expectations. I haven't had the tubes for more than 10 days, so I can't comment on how long they will last. I expect it to last as long as the 34s I took out, but regardless, I'll be buying the same tube again when the time comes.

My old Ampeg requires 2 7027A's which are hard to come by. For many Ampeg amps these can be used instead of the 7027's. Warning-if used in the wrong application you could get hurt! As I understand it, 6l6's can be used in all the old Ampeg tube amps except for the b-15, but do your homewrok first for safety! 7027 have 8 prongs at the bottom, 6l6's have six. But in most old Ampeg's those two extra prongs do nothing. Those amps were smartly designed to take other tube types. I am not sure about such a conversion with other amp manufacturers. That being said, these sound great and saved me a bunch of money.
