  • Love this Harp !

As reviewed by Russ on 2/6/2010

I own harps in all keys and have tried most all brands ,and for the price I'd say this is the most solid, airtight, well-tuned harp in this price range. They're virtually bullet-proof. One reviewer mentioned a red colored comb Bluesmaster that was out of tune, but I've only owned the black combed versions, and they've been perfect. Also , these are shaped to easily cup in hand to control airflow. Also, you can replace the reed if you blow it out (not that blowin it out is easy with the reeds being made of bronze phosphor!)The bluesmaster isn't as loud as the Harpmaster (another great Suzuki harp with brass reeds),but I like the tone on this one better. Great sound, easy to bend, and not as suseptible to moisture like wood or brass reeds...all in all 5 stars. Besides , the shape and the stainless steel coverplates just look cool ,too.

  • Suzuki Blues Harp

As reviewed by Mike O on 2/4/2010

The Suzuki Bluesharp is a mixed bag. I purchased a G and an Eb. The G was an excellent harp I would give it 5 stars. It is the laser tuned phosphor bronze as described in the product description with a black plastic comb. The Eb was in a red comb and the reed plate was obviously hand tuned and very poorly at that. The first one #7,9, 10 hole was very poorly tuned and had gouges in the reed where the technician tried to tune it close to where it should be. Guitar Center was kind enough to send me another. I was hoping that this was an aberration but the second Eb has even worse with 7,8,9,10 almost unplayable. Maybe the distinction is the red comb and that it's made somewhere else but it is clearly not the same harmonica as the G with the black comb. Also, you can't tune or modify the reeds on the red comb bluesharps. The reeds are spot welded and if you try to adjust them they snap off I would give these production run Bluesharps a 1 Star, not worth the money or the aggravation.
