Just like the title, gave more room, access to my rack systems made easier, top is used for lap top and miscellaneous items needed to record. All and all looks great with the matching desk I purchased prior to this unit.
Arrived with surface damage. Was much larger in every dimension by inches. 24" does not exist as a dimension anywhere on this product. It is built much less stable than the 46" desk and yet takes up over half the width of the desk.
I picked up this desk in addition to the two side carts and couldn't be happier. The desk sits at a comfortable height and the materials are solid and surprisingly heavy duty. The 4U rack area is great, though I wish there was just a bit more wiggle room between the top of the rack and the monitor shelf?using a racked synth such as a Virus has proven to be a challenge in that there is not much space for MIDI/Audio cables. That said, I simply moved all my synths into the sidecars and use the desktop racks for power & compressors. There's a lot of ways to use the desk to hide your cables, so my setup looks very sharp. All in all, you get more than what you pay for. Love it.
This was just what my studio needed. Great product, very sturdy, meets professional needs. It was easy to assemble also, the directions were broken down into 5 easy steps, great for those studio owners with ADD!
I love this 24" custom cherry sidecar products here at the Guitar Center today!. And I brought me one of these sidecar here and I took my's home with me here!. And I used this sidecar for my Tascam 2488 neo multitrack digital recorder on top here and also I used my JBL MSC1 Monitor System Controller with RMC here too also here!. And also I used my JBL LSR 2310SP 10" Powered Studio Subwoofer at the bottom of the sidecar here as well!. And this sidecar has wheels on it as well here and I can move it to place to place much easier for me here 24/7 A+!. And now you can easily assemble the custom workspace you need here! like having the right studio workspace is critical for good results, and a studio desk is an impas cortant part of that!. And the Studio Trends has created a line of studio furniture that combines ergonomics, efficiency, and storage space, all at an affordable price!. Start with a 46" desk then add a 24" sidecar that doubles as extra storage and speaker stands for your near-field monitors!. Now you can easily assemble the custom workspace you need!!!!!.
This is one cheap rack. Here are the issues? In our rack we have a Peavy CS400, Crown XLS5000, and Crown XLS1000, Lexicon reverb, Headphone distribution unit and a CD/DVD unit and a couple other outboard items. Rack is full except two top units. Our rack is on a custom cork floor in our studio. The cork floor is hard like hardwood. Day 1: Left rear wheel cracked when rolling the unit 3 feet to access cabling. Day 3: Right front wheel cracked and came out of its socket when rolling the unit 3 feet to access cabling. This leaves the unit just about un-repairable. Day 7: We took the wheels off and set the unit on a 4 wheel dolly. Works well now. This and its parent desk are really cheap products. You get what you pay for.
The thing looks great and goes together pretty easy over all. Just a few issues. First the side braces held three issues for me. First, the triangle part, it's plastic while the other diagonal piece is some kind of metal. I wish the triangle would have been as well. Secondly, one of the diagonal braces had a bent piece that is used to screw it to the top table. Third is that those screws to do so...no pilot holes so while screwing them in, it ended up ripping out a chunk of the wood out, but I got it so you can't even tell. Overall it's completely worth the money. Held the weight of me crawling over it to get to the back to do wiring, very sturdy. I'm very impressed. Will buy another one soon.
Purchased the Studio Trends side car on 12/2/11. Really nice product at a really nice price. The assembly went well, but you have to use some of your own common sense when putting the steel sides in place to align with the plastic triangles. The top and bottom are really heavy and solid. The cherry finish gets a grade A. I just purchased a Omnirax Studio Presto Desk that is really nice but very pricey. The Studio Trends side car is of same quality but much cheaper. I just wish they made a copy of the Presto Desk, I'm sure it would be half the price of the Omnirax. I highly recommend this product well worth the price.
This is a review for Studio Trends Side Car 24 inch w/Cherry top. This side car is very nice looking and large. I purchased the cherry version which looks great! It assembled in about 75 minutes w/o issues. Studio Trends includes an extra of every screw, dowel, and cam lock which I thought was a very nice touch. All I needed was a Phillips head screwdriver, some floor space, and about 75 minutes to assemble it. Approx. Side Car Size - Width: 25-5/8 inches; Depth: 26-1/8 inches at the apex; Height: 29 inches w/casters. Approx. Rack Size ۡ Width: 19 inches; Depth: 21 inches; Height: 12U. The Side Car is wider and deeper than the rack portion. The sides of the Side Car contain an extra 2.5 inches on each side making the side car about 5 inches wider than a plain rack. The curved back of the Side Car extends about 4 inches beyond the rack back at its apex. The long angled posts/flutes on the outer sides are metal. The smaller triangle pieces next to the metal posts are plastic. (The rack rails come pre-attached to the sides of the Side Car so there is no alignment work necessary on your part.) Mine came in two packages. One package contained the particle board parts (top, bottom, sides, and back pieces). The second package contained the casters, angled posts, triangles, hardware, and instructions. If you donۡt already have rack mount screws to mount your equipment, youۡll need to buy some because the Side Car does not come with rack mount screws. The Raxxess Rack Screws and Washers 25-pack (PTSW25) worked great for me with the Side Car. I use it on normal house carpeting and the wheels roll on the carpeting w/o any issues. The front casters have locking mechanisms, though I donۡt use them. If youۡre looking for something that looks nice in a room and is functional, then this is it. If youۡre looking for something that fits in a tight, narrow space, then this may not be right for you. I love mine. Itۡs functional and looks great! I highly recommend it!
