This is a great small desk for the money. I purchased the cherry finish which I think looks a lot nicer than the natural finish. 6-space rack, monitor shelf, room for studio monitors, and a keyboard drawer. Hard to find small studio furniture with all of those attributes. If you're looking for something bigger with more rack space, the producer's station is what you're looking for. But if you need a small desk with a lot of features and a good sized work space, this is the one you want. Can't beat it for the price!

It's small and takes up very little space. The cons are the metal sides that vibrate and cause all kinds of noise and harmonics if you have any audio playing within ten feet of the desk. Had I known it would have been so noisy I would have upgraded to a better desk. In the end, if you plan to do AUDIO work and use this desk, I wouldn't recomend this piece. Also the monitor sits extremely high causing you to constantly strain your neck sitting in a position where you are looking upwards at all times. Hope this review helps anyone planning on purchasing an audio workstation desk. Do yourself a favor and upgrade to the next desk.

Good but some problems

By Eric Hernandez

from Avon Ohio

So i ordered this Thursday and received it the following Tuesday so shipping was actually really fast for a item that weighs 80lbs. When i got it, i quickly inspected that none of the pieces were damaged and just my luck the tabletop was damaged. The left corner of the main table top was cracked and chipped. I called studio rta and there are sending me a brand new top so that works. As far as the construction of this table it sucks. The screws that come with the table are 1/2 inch and does not grab the predrilled holes very well. I accidentally put the legs on the wrong side of the table top, then when i unscrewed the screws and tried rescrewing the legs in the right spot but the screws wouldn't grab the table because of the material. I improvised went to home depot and bought 5/8inch wood screws. Its holding up well right now but if you consider buying this table make sure u buy 5/8inch wood screws to secure the legs to the top properly. You will only need 16 screws just for the legs. Besides that the table is really nice and sturdy. Has rack space and keyboard trey with a top shelf. Over all its worth it if your short on money or just need something to organize your stuff more neatly.

Excellent Home Project Studio Desk

By DAVID EVANS

from Virginia Beach, VA

I'm a long-time professional musician and require significant return on investment to rate a product highly. This desk is compact, easy to assemble, sturdy, and roomy enough to hold my iMac, small A&H mixer, 49-key midi keyboard, printer, and monitors with ease and still have enough room for more rackspace gear later. In the first week after I purchased this, I logged 15 hours of recording, editing, mixing and printing sheet music. No ergonomic fatique or usage issues at all. I recommend this to anyone who needs professional, inexpensive, and durable equipment for their home project studio. The small footprint allows use in most residential homes, while presenting a pleasant, "not-industrial-equipment" appearance. My wife even likes it!

Surprisingly perfect

By Jeremy Siegel

from New York, NY

I expected this unit to "work" in my new home studio space. My room is small (8.5' x 8') and I wanted a desk that would allow me a relatively wide stereo spread (with monitor stands), and also enough space behind the listening position to fit a futon. This thing is literally perfect - I can fit all three of my rack hardware pieces, my laptop, external monitor, hard drives, and even my change and writing utensil holders on the desk with room to spare for notepads, etc. Can easily prop my 61-key midi keyboard on top when needed. Easy to assemble, and CHEAP for what you get. This purchase totally turned my studio around, highly recommend!

Great workstation for small areas

By JAMES ANDREPONT

from Opelousas, La.

Received the desk 2 days after ordering...very fast free shipping!! The base was bent on one of the legs (box was damaged by UPS) but easily straightened with vice-grips. Quality components, easily assembled. Accomodates my m-audio Bx5a monitors except I will have to get a thinner isolation foam to put underneath so it fits under the edge of the top shelf. Oxygen49 keyboard fits perfectly. I have a 21 inch monitor on top shelf connected to my macbook pro.Nice large screen and a little high up but no strain on my neck. The bottom shelf is great for boxes with cables etc...and being on casters you can easily move everything with the desk as needed. Well worth the price. And most importantly my wife said it looks really neat in my office (especially compared to the mess I had previously) Enjoy the music!!

Awesome value!! --- YOU DO NOT NEED EXTRA SCREWS!!!

By y

from los angeles, ca

Got in this yesterday, takes 2 hours to assemble like people said AND I had electric drill too! Tons of screws and the instructions are a bit confusing so be prepared to unscrew and re-screw a few times. Desk is super sturdy and the cherry color is beautiful. The package weights over 70lbs! Heavy duty! Not cheap! I think the person who delivered it dragged it, DO NOT do this as it may damage the box along with the parts inside -- this happened to me. No worries though, Guitar Center and manufacturer were super helpful! 5 stars for a rocking desk and great customer service!

Great little desk

By Entity Music Ent.

from Fort Wayne, Indiana

I needed something to hold my recording studio equipment that didn't take up a lot of room and this is the best value I have seen anywhere. This desk is super sturdy and looks great (I got the maple/black one) It also has room for a small set of studio monitors but I got big monitors so I got the On Stage Stands SMS-6000 and the go very well with this desk. The top shelf/rack is also very sturdy and will hold my 32/42" HDTV nicely and the cable management is also a nice touch as are the caster wheels for moving it around. Overall you will not find a better value. The bottom shelf keeps my computer tower off the floor and there's still room for a powered sub. Now I have an excuse to start buying more equipment to fill the rack spaces up.

Amazing.

By Nathan

from Florida

I just purchased this September 18, 2010 and after some steps I finally got it together. It houses my music equipment beautifully and has a nice look. Very nice feel sturdy and well made. I give it 5 stars hands down. Also the space to mount racks is a nice feature.

Holds it all

By Peter

from St. Charles IL

This desk is great. The keyboard tray holds my tascam eight track, the main area holds my 24 channle mixer, the very bottom is good for PA speakers, the rack area can hold the input board for a PA system, and the top shelf works very nicely for my monitors. It made my studio much bigger, plus it looks prefesional. You need this desk.

Great value, lousy shipping experience

By Barry Stoffberg

from Knoxville, Tennessee

So I finally got my budget together to get sime studio furniture. So did so online research you cannot find a better value for money 6 U recording desk with flip out tray better than this for double the price. All you need is matching monitor stands and this turns out to be a great looking piece plus it's a solidly built product and comes handy with simple instructions and a numbered screws and bolt kit. Give yourself at least 2 hours to assemble this baby though cause there about 60 screws and bolts to go through which you definately going to need an electronic screwdriver for. However great the workmanship was on this desk be aware that I bought this desk on February 25 on Fedex lost the desk so I only received my desk on March 11 cause they didn't have the cherry wood finish in stock. Sad to say Guitar Center, Knoxville really only started to put some serious pressure on Fedex after they passed the buck for a week blaming each other until I had to get fired up and almost rude with both Fedex and Guitar Center after being way too "Tennessee polite". So although I ended up finally getting my desk it wasn't without conjuring up some "New York Bronx" attitute.
