NEW REVIEW - Great product

This desk was exactly right for my studio, and the price was great. Quality is good for hte money, sturdy construction with heavy duty wheels and aluminum makes this safe and easy to move, even when loaded with equipment.

I purchased this desk a year ago and it has certainly improved the clutter situation in my studio. One downside is when fully loaded the caster screws cannot take the weight when the unit is rolled forward and back. In fact the rubber wheels can't take it. I had the rubber of one wheel tear in half and another the screws pulled out. Mind you, I am not wheeling this thing around the room. I have merely pulled it forward a few feet to change the configuration a couple of times. I would recommend drilling holes through the base and using bolts to attach the casters. I am sure that would solve the problem. Of course it wouldn't solve the problem of the cheap casters. Those you could upgrade as well. All in all a good item. I wish I thought about the caster mount sooner because I am not going to disassemble my whole studio now and the desk is so heavy loaded up. Definitely use bolts. The extra effort will be worth it.

Worth It!

I debated this purchase due to some of the reviews that mentioned spacing/alignment issues concerning the rack holes. Ultimately though, I needed a recording desk with space and I went with it. As it turns out, the desk was actually better than I thought it would be. In fact, the only problem I have with it is the particle board but at that price what can you expect. The assembly was easier than expected - about 1.5 to 2 hours. As long as I'm able to use it for 5 or more years I'll feel good about the purchase.

AWESOME!!!!

I recently purchased this desk, and could not be happier!!! I had been in the market for a desk for awhile and this one had my name written all over it! This thing is VERY large!!!It spans about 6 feet wide, which can accomodate most keyboards easily. I also like the fact that there is so much rack space. This beast was also suprisingly easy to put together. I would highly recommend buying one of these to anyone putting together a home studio!!!

Can't even compare to others...

This is a great desk if you purchase it for the right reasons. I used to own another desk before this one, which didn't have all the features this one has. This desk has all the necessary compartments a musician needs to organize his/her equipment. Looks great/great value. I researched other sites before checking it out on guitarcenter.com and you cannot beat this price. If you love to make music but hate the clutter, this is the desk for you. Thanks Guitar Center!!

Does The Job!

This is not a Professional Level desk, it is a Hobbyist Level desk. If you are looking for perfectly spaced racks holes and the ability to load it with a thousand pounds of hardware, you should look elsewhere. But for the hobbyist, this desk is PERFECT. With the quality of today's plug-ins we aren't using racks and racks of hardware any longer. I put this desk together in 2 hours by myself. No problems with assembly, just don't over torque the screws and they won't strip. I loaded it up with a PC, 2 19" wide screen LCDs, 2 studio monitors, mixer, and 4 rack mount pieces of hardware, then pushed it across thick carpeting with no trouble at all. There is still lots of room for more gear if needed and plenty of desktop space for my MIDI controller when needed. As far as bang for the buck for the hobbyist, you can't do any better! A few assembly tips: loosely assemble the racks and install a piece of rack-mounted gear before tightening all the screws, which will assure rack hole alignment. When attaching the CD holder / support, attach them to the bridge first. Don't over torque the screws when mounting the casters. Enjoy!!

loving it !

I wasn`t too sure if I wanted this RTA desk or the 500dollar omnirax. But when I actually went to GC and saw the real thing. I knew I had to get this desk. Some say this desk is little high but if you play guitar infront of this desk it`s perfect. Because omnirax desk kinda gets in your way if your playing guitar. Some faults are it dosen`t feel tight as it should be. I worried because I read many reviews saying the wheel comes off easily or something. But if you be careful and don`t move it around too much it won`t happen. BTW why is there so many nails left even when I was done w/ screwing? Anyway It looks great, it`s big enough to hold my 88keys and two 22inch monitors. If your looking for a great desk for your home studio, this is the one you actually want to consider buying!

A Music Man Cave Must

It has room for everything and more. Assembly was so easy. I bought the cherry model and i could not be happier. Putting two full size pc's in one side and all my electronics in the other side, as well as three monitors (two pc and one tv) on the top shelf, with room for more stuff to come. The guys at Guitar Center in Nashville were the best. They were even concerned that i had help waiting when i got home so i could get the huge, heavy boxes out of the truck,(yes its big and heavy).I love it.

Studio RTA Producer Station

Great layout for functionality. Earlier reviews were correct concerning the caster issues. Assembly went fine purchasing black head bolts instead of supplied wood screws to mount casters. The casters themselves are made of a rubber that is too soft and therefore they tend to fold insead of caster. I used them anyway because I don't intend to move unit much and a set of 8 good casters is expensive.(move unit slowly! think about it.. 8 casters trying to caster at one time creats a lot of resistance so don't keep pushing until they caster!) The cherry vaneer looks good so far. I couldn't find any other workstations with this much to offer for anywhere near this price. Great midline product.

Very Good Product

I was very pleased in the Producer Station desk from Studio RTA. It meets my needs very well and is built very stable.... The only thing I can say bad is the holes in the rack rails... The holes are not spaced properly, as many rack rails I've found, Other than that I am very pleased. i would recomend this product to any home based or small pro studio aplication...
