One of the greatest drummers in music history has unveiled a highly limited collection of artwork built from rhythm. Steve Smith, known for his influential catalog of work with Journey and Vital Information, created "Improvisation: Endless Variations" through the new medium of capturing rhythmic performance and putting it to canvas in a debut collection called "The Fabric of Rhythm." Highly limited, with just 15 in the edition, each canvas is numbered and individually signed by Steve Smith.
One the work, Steve Smith states:
"Improvisation is such an interesting phenomena. One takes a vocabulary they have developed and then use that vocabulary to express countless ideas. With my music, I embark on journeys of improvisation night after night. I feel that I can come up with endless variations of the drumming vocabulary that I have amassed over the years. To me, this piece evokes the mystery of improvisation and the endless variations of expression."
