Comments about Sterling by Music Man JP100D John Petrucci Signature Series Koa Top Dimarzio Pickups Electric Guitar:

I absolutely love this guitar. The guitar looks beautiful with the KOA top and plays even better. Seriously, I was not even looking for a guitar to buy, but I picked this one up at my guitar center and I loved the way it played. It was so smooth to play, and I could not stop playing hard chunky riffs. This guitar is such a tight playing machine. At home, I play it through a mesa dual rectifier and these pickups are so versatile. When I play it through a delay pedal to add a little reverb effect, it sounds smooth and articulate and thick if you want that joe satriani tone. You know you have quality pickups and a quality guitar when you can role back the volume knob and get beautiful variations in tone. This DiMarzio pickups sound great clean as well. This is the first guitar I have bought new in so long. I usually buy used guitars so I can sell them for the same price or a profit if I inevitably get tired of them. But this one I knew was a keeper from the first chunky Keith Merrow riff I tried. I own an american PRS tremonti, and I'm being completely honest when I say, I now play this one more. Nothing gives me more satisfaction than plugging this guitar in and chugging away. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this guitar. It seriously is such a beautiful quality instrument for a great price. You owe it to yourself to try this out!

Back up for my Ernie Ball music man, and it turns out I play yet as a back up for my Ernie Ball music man, and it turns out I play them both equally. The Sterling is a lot better guitar than one third of the money should buy .

Comments about Sterling by Music Man JP100D John Petrucci Signature Series Koa Top Dimarzio Pickups Electric Guitar:

Guitar feels good, sounds good. I like the neck its probably one of the thinnest width at the nut you can find, Its a keeper. That being said, The High E string if not careful will roll off the frett board when playing sometimes. In my opinion the nut is cut for the high E, too close to the edge. I believe if they would have cut the slot .020 higher on the nut this problem wouldn't exist. I am running .010 strings BTW. I will probably redo the nut or replace with a blank and cut to my liking. If you are considering this guitar check
one out in the store to see if you want to deal with this. Do a pull off to open E at the 5th fret or higher, you will see what I mean.
I am going to fix this because I like the guitar, other than this one issue.

Comments about Sterling by Music Man JP100D John Petrucci Signature Series Koa Top Dimarzio Pickups Electric Guitar:

Only had it a few weeks but legitimately can't put it down. I'm sure the JP6 is better made with better components and I've seen reviews from people who got lemons, but mine is awesome, with a great setup (was on the wall at my local guitar center and once I started playing I knew I was taking it home). The crunch lab and liquifire dimarzio pickups are amazing with high gain amp settings and are perfect for the stuff I like to play (bright and bare for Satriani and Johnson, heavy but still crisp for Iron Maiden and Ozzy). The tuners feel great to me and are remarkably stable even with heavy tremolo use. Its not a Floyd Rose but I'm not a heavy trem user so I can't really compare. The weight is perfect and the ergonomics are spot on, the thing feels like an extension of me when I play. Real professionals may not be pleased with the lack of coil tapping and piezo pickups, but I know I won't use that enough to justify another 1-2K for the music man versions. I do recommend getting your hands on it before you buy though, since just because mine was set up and put together well doesn't mean yours will be.

I'm seriously obsessed with guitar. I've been playing a fender standard strat for 7 years and wanted something different- I spent weeks trying every guitar I could get my hands on (Gibson, PRS, Schecter, Jackson, ibanez) and none of them felt quite right till I picked this up. And just FYI the only hard case I could get a good fit from was the ernie ball 5983- but on the upside It'll store the guitar with the tremolo bar in place without any problem and the handle is offset to balance perfectly with the weight of the guitar. Really couldn't be happier with this thing. Its like every time I pick it up I play something better than I ever have. I don't think the guitar is making me better per se, but since I love playing it so much I'm just getting better faster.

Superior workmanship and hardware. Guitar plays as good as, if not better than many higher cost guitars I've experienced. Bought mine through Guitar Centers used equipment section and it played great out of the box upon arrival.....since re- stringing and some very minor tweaking on the tremlo and action, I cant put this guitar down!

I bought one at the store and the neck was bowed. The store ordered me a new one and I think it is good. They should have set it up before turning it over to me and also provide instruction on the locking tuners; I keep breaking the high E string.
