Comments about Sterling by Music Man 7-String Electric Guitar:

My first impression of this guitar, was a very good one. Let's start with looks. Starting from the headstock, a nice purple and black transparent finish with the Sterling Music man logo and John Petrucci's signature. The 5+2 locking tuners are just a great stand out and are standard to any music man guitar. The glossed maple lining of the headstock is just absolutely beautiful and really compliments the guitars finish. Now, the neck. The rosewood fretboard resonates well while playing and it has a great feel to it. The "JP" shield logo on the first fret gives this guitar a unique look along with the other shield inlays throughout the fretboard. The maple neck is glossed and is silky smooth. Your fretting hand will glide along the neck with ease, which makes any shredder very happy. The body, the transparent purple finish is what caught my eye when making this guitar purchase. It truly is a thing of beauty, the blend of the black and purple will definitely stand out anywhere. The sterling modern tremolo is well set and is very stable. While playing "For the love of god" by steve vai, which requires a lot of tremolo action, the guitar stayed in perfect tune. The SBMM pickups surprised me when I hooked it up to my rig. With first "G" chord I played, the thick bright tone, reminded me of the dimarzio's I have in my other guitars. I usually change out the pickups in guitars for dimarzio D-activators. But I won't be needing to with this one. Also, I normally have to set up my guitars to the string action of my preference. Again, this guitar came with the best set string action I have ever played. One more thing I want to bring up is the tone control placement. It's placed just inches below your picking hand which makes it super easy switch pickup configurations. I played this thing for HOURS straight out of the box without any changes to the setup or pickups, which is rare for me. This guitar is gig ready straight out of the box. A MUST BUY!
