Product Information

MusicMan vibe and playability at a fraction of the cost.

The Sterling SB14 has a basswood body that delivers warm tone with great sustain. Like the MusicMan model, the smaller body is comfortable and easy to hold during long gigs. It features a MusicMan-designed active preamp that is dead quiet and allows precise cut/boost control of bass, mid, and treble frequencies. The MusicMan-designed bridge has thick saddles for stability and precise slotting that guarantees no sideways string movement during heavy playing.

SB Series bass pickups utilize a 3rd hidden coil for hum cancellation. You can also switch from single-coil or humbucking mode and get all the tonal goodness without the hum and noise.

Sterling by Music Man, is for players seeking MusicMan vibe and performance at a more affordable price. The SB14 is an accurate version of the popular MusicMan model and made without compromise in craftsmanship and materials. Each instrument is inspected, setup, and actually played before it is released.

With our Guaranteed Lowest Price, you can be assured of complete satisfaction and the lowest available price, or your money back!

NEW REVIEW - Lots Of Bang For The Buck

Ok, I just picked up this bass today from the local Guitar Center, please understand I had my sights set on a differnt bass when I walked in the door (Ibanez SR500). I was looking for a 4 string bass with active electronics that was lightweight and comfortable to play, my main 5 string is the Ibanez SR505 and I love it so I was pretty set on getting the 4 string version. Being open minded I checked out all the basses that where in the price range I wanted (under $600). I picked up the Sterling and right away was impressed with the fit and finish of this bass, very nice construction, the fret work was perfect, and the candy apple finish was flawless. Upon plugging it in I was blown away by the sounds that this bass is capable of. A wonderful deep tone that is still very defined and tight with a great punch to the high end that is not tiny at all. The three band eq and pickup selector switch made it easy to dial in the exact sound I wanted. I spent about 30 minutes playing this bass before purchasing it. It got a good workout at rehearsal 1 hour later and the rest of the band was equally impressed. I don't think my Fender Geddy Lee Jazz will be getting as much stage time now. I really can't imagine a better bass for the money.

Sterling by Musicman SB-14 Bass

After owning several Musicman basses, I had to try their new Sterling by Musicman SB-14 bass. This light weight bass gives you the chest pounding tones you expect from other high price basses. The neck is like " butter " providing the player with cramp free hours of play. Once again Musicman gives bang to the buck with this new series so I give them five stars.....hit it!

Awsome Bass

Played it at a local GC, and instantly fell in love with it. It has a nice "in your face sound" and has a thin jazz-neck profile and light body. It is considerably a lot less money then the stingray but, lacks very little in sound compared to the stingray. It sounds great for pretty much any style of playing.

Undeniable deal

I just picked up this bass last week, having drooled over it for the last few months. After a full set-up, this bass feels so natural to play. The tones come so close to the ones produced by an actual MM Sterling, yet it's about a thousand bucks less brand new. I've noticed one imperfection in the fretboard. I think it's common on most instruments coming out of Indonesia. Honestly though it's not a huge deal, and it wouldn't cost me more than another 50 bucks to get ironed out. I'm totally thrilled with this bass, it's certainly living up to the hype. If you're shopping for basses in this price range, ya gotta at least try one out. I'll be playing mine for a long time to come.
