  this bass looks, feels, plays, and sounds like it could cost three times as much as it does. get this bass if you can. it is beautiful. i could not tell you what the difference between this classic and the U.S. classic is except for the price. this STERLING RAY 34 CLASSIC is the best sounding MUSIC MAN i have ever played. i really like the way the pick up is voiced and i prefer the bass and treble active over the three actives on most MUSIC MAN basses. it has a great bottom end with lots of snap and growl. i love the maple neck. it has a great feel and the intonation is perfect right out of the box. the three tone burst of the body is beautiful. this bass looks as good as it sounds. i would have to think that this could well be the best "second" brand ever produced. i can honestly say i like it better than my U.S. MUSIC MAN STERLING that cost much, much more. this bass will definately see lots of gigging time, and for the price you can take it anywhere. i might save up to get the cool mint green one too! i want to thank the guys at LANCASTER GUITAR CENTER for helping me get this one. i know they have been hard to come by. did i say this has to be one of the best buys ever?!!

• The Real Deal...

  Just got my new Sterling Ray34CA bass and sure enough, straight out of the box it sounds amazing!..My band members could instantly tell the difference the tonality, the tightness all are so musical. I did my own set up and with a turn here, a slight string height adjustment (for my personal taste)I had an instrument that feels like it was made just for me. The neck is very playable, makes each note on very fret without any noticeable buzzing. I did about a month of research on this bass, reading,and watching You Tube videos. I went to my local GC store to try out a regular Music Man just to get use to the feel of it and hearing it's percussive tonality. Two of my favorite bassists, Louis Johnson and Bernard Edwards used Music Man basses. They both exemplified the styles I liked to hear...Louis' compressed and edgy thumping and Bernard's solid low end smooth two finger grooves. The Ray34CA is very well built and doesn't feel too heavy...I'm able to move around and still play what I need to...Hell, I even enjoy playing it without my amp...For the price, it's a players dream bass....I can go from Chic to Journey to Motown and it handles whatever I need it to do...Thumbs up to the team at Music Man for a super job in design and electronics!

  This a great sounding bass. It is my first bass with active pickups and I gotta say at first I was alittle skeptical about the active pickups because they run on a 9v battery, but it all depends on how much you play the bass. Just I would strongly recommend to unplug your bass from the cord after you are done playing or the battery will go dead within a day. On to the sound; I play out of an Acoustic B200H head and an Acoustic B115 cab, when I plugged this bass in, I was blown away as to how clear and crisp the sound was, it sounds amazing when I practice with my band, and they all love the way sounds. All in all, I have no complaints about this bass. You will not regret buying it.
