Comments about Steinberg Sequel Software Music Studio:
Sequel is an affordable PC version of Garageband. It works great especially for novice music creators. The interface is much like Garageband in fact. It is extremely easy to use, and Steinberg is a solid helpful company.
Comments about Steinberg Sequel Software Music Studio:
Years ago, I purchased Steinberg's Cubasis VST and found it difficult to use. Nothing was intuitive in the interface, and I became frustrated. Sequel is an entirely different animal. Not only is the interface simple and easy to use, but the HalionOne loops and presets that come integrated into Sequel are excellent. You can screen loops as if they are part of your arrangement just by clicking on the loop. Can't get any easier than this. I was able to produce a complete arrangement on the first day, using all the main features of Sequel. The manual is great for picking up hidden treasures within the program, but for the most part, you can just start the program and go. My only complaint relates to the sample rate that Sequel uses. Unlike other software sequencers that allow selection of multiple sample rates such as 44.1Khz or 48Khz, Sequel is locked at 44.1Khz. This is a BIG problem if you have a sound card such as Creative Audigy2, because it has its sample rate locked at 48Khz. This means that you can't use the ASIO driver that came with your soundcard and are forced to use the DirectX Full Duplex driver(included with Sequel). This will prevent you from being able to monitor your inputs in real time because of the high latency (echo effect). I solved the problem by purchasing a Creative "X-fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro Series" audio card. This card allows selection of multiple sample rates. In conclusion, I absolutely love Sequel. If it hadn't been for the sample rate issue, I would have nothing but praise for this program. I think Steinberg hit a home run with this one.
