The multi-colored function buttons are an intuitive and time-saving alternative to using the computer mouse or the keyboard. With the Channel Select button you can browse easily through the entire Cubase mixer, while the rotary encoder provides direct access to the pan setting and gives you visual feedback via the integrated LED light. For even more convenience, eight buttons can hold a second, freely assignable function that is accessible by pressing the Shift button.
A visual and technical masterpiece, the high-resolution touch fader provides precise, tactile control over the volume level of a track. With a resolution of up to 1,024 steps and integrated LEDs this touch device truly stands apart from other control devices. Touch it, feel it and control your mix faster and more convenient than ever before.
The clearly structured layout, the seamless Cubase integration and technical innovations such as the touch fader make this portable USB-controller the perfect companion for any Cubase user ” whether playing live, recording in the studio or just hanging out in the park.

CMC stands for the world' first truly integrated, modular controller system. Made up of six unique units, each designed for a dedicated purpose, the CMC micro controllers can be individually combined to form a personal Cubase control desk ” with up to nine CMC units. With the included joint plate, it is a straightforward matter to fix several CMC units. Plus, you can even combine the PD and FD models with Steinberg' CC121 Advanced Integration controller, leaving no control request unanswered. For the first time ever, it is possible to individually design a personal controller system that exactly fits your needs. You can stack up to nine CMC units to form your individual control solution
Highly responsive touch controller with LED-based visual feedback
The CMC-FD (#H77578), CMC-CH (#H77575) and CMC-TP (#H77577) controllers introduce a newly developed, high-precision touch device that offers a whole new approach to DAW control. While the CMC-FD and CMC-CH house a high-precision touch fader with a resolution of up to 1,024 steps and integrated LED lights, the CMC-TP comes with a multi-functional touch slider. The ultra-high resolution, integrated LED lights for visual feedback and dedicated working modes make this innovative control solution a smart and intuitive addition to any studio and live performance setup.
Smart and intuitive: the AI Knob
First introduced with Steinberg' CC121 Advanced Integration Controller, the revolutionary AI Knob is an exceptionally helpful œpoint and control knob. Rather than attempting to replace traditional mouse pointing devices, the AI Knob harnesses the flexibility of a computer mouse to offer unprecedented speed when editing parameters and adjusting settings. The computer mouse is simply moved over the parameter, which is then automatically placed under full precision control through the AI Knob, with no need to make any additional settings in Cubase, any additional software module or on the interface itself.
Visual feedback galore
The CMC-QC (#H77576) and CMC-CH units house convenient rotary encoders with green LED lights. The LED brightness varies according to the encoder position: the farther from the center, the brighter the LED. And also the CMC-PD (#H77579) features 16 highly responsive rubber pads with LED-based background lights. Best of all, the lights change colors depending on the velocity level ” from green to orange over to red.
Slick and mobile
Small in size but big in value, the CMC series are your perfect partner on the road. The units are small enough to fit in your pocket, on a master keyboard or wherever desired. Since the CMC units are powered via USB, you don't need any additional power supply. And with a unique level of handling quality, the CMC series is suited for both crowded live venues and project studios ranging from bedroom to mansion.
AI: Advanced Integration
AI stands for Advanced Integration, being a technology developed in close collaboration between Steinberg and Yamaha. The AI technology allows for a seamless integration of the DAWs developed by Steinberg into the digital audio hardware from Yamaha and Steinberg. AI provides plug-and-play at an as-yet unknown level. The software automatically carries out the required settings of the connected hardware, such as selecting drivers and the remote settings ” it couldn™t be easier.
Instant plug and play with Cubase
Each CMC controller features full plug and play with Cubase, requiring no additional setup as a controller device. A swift, one-step installation procedure is all that' required. Once the installation has been performed, Cubase detects the device when launched and automatically binds the unit into the Cubase production environment. To reflect this, the Ready lamp lights up and the controller is ready to assume control.
Cubase AI 6 included
Each of the CMC units includes an exclusive download version of Cubase AI, a special, compact version of the popular Cubase music production system. Together with one or more CMC units, you have a complete system solution for fine-tuning your music to perfection.

For most people, using Cubase to produce their own music for their own pleasure, a CMC controller is probably a gear indulgence of dubious justification. On the other hand, if you work all day in your DAW, not having to mouse over to select a track to paste a clip, engage the mute button, enable the plug-in editor window, or avoiding mousing any of the other functions of the CMC-CH channel controller could be a pleasant workflow improvement. Even if you don't really need to shave minutes off your tracking and mixing sessions, I have to say that a well-selected group of CMCs adds a pretty cool level of sophistication to your workspace. They're well-built, with solid backlit rubber buttons, and numerous nice touches such as uniform cable routing, a flip-out stand for a choice of access angles, a clip to join adjacent units, and molded-in rubber feet to prevent slippage on your desk (these won't fall off when it gets hot in your studio!). They are also bigger than they look, measuring approximately 7X4 inches, so people with big hands rejoice, but plan your desk space accordingly. The other thing you should consider is that each CMC controller will take up one USB port on your recording rig. If you are working with a laptop, this probably means you shouldn't add this bit of candy to your setup. If you are using a desktop, you will probably still want to consider using a powered expansion hub, since you probably won't be satisfied with just one.
