I use the CI2 with my Windows 7 laptop and shure SM57 for recording guitar, bass and vocals. Set up was easy (make sure you download the most current tools) and the included help files were actually helpful. In no time I was able to understand the recording process in Cubase AI5. Registering the software was the only thing that involved jumping through hoops, but I can't really fault them for wanting to protect their software from piracy. I previously recorded music using a Digitech GNX4 which always produced poor results when recording an actual amp. The recordings from the CI5 audio are rich and dimensional. Pros: Cubase AI5, USB powered (no wall plug), ability to control recording through a footswitch for hands free recording (Yamaha footswitch is a separate purchase), AI nob for controlling software. Cons: None. For the price, I don't know how they could make it better. It fits my needs perfectly.
I bought this a few months ago to record for a class I was taking where we used cubase, logic, reason.. etc. It works Great! I haven't had any problems with it at all, even after dropping it once. Still works like new. The only down side was that it took me FOREVER to hear what I was singing and playing into cubase using the CI2. My suggestion is to buy an extra set of speakers to make it easier. Otherwise, make sure you know your inputs and outputs in the programs. Other than that, 5 stars!
