This product might be good for DJs with a local residency but I tour a lot. So this is my perspective. Its too tall. I can't adjust the hight When I used it I had to look around my computer to see the crowd. Its too heavy. I don't think sturdy means it has to weight so much. It adds too much weight to my bag It makes walking around the airport with a backpack suck even more. No locking mechanism; am I really supposed to carry around zip ties? I was in a hurry when I bought it and at the time it was the only one available. I really want to return it.
Out the package, this stand is lightweight and relatively easy to setup. Literally flip the shelves over and you're [almost] done. The stand comes with reusable nylon ties that you MUST use in order to secure the stand from tipping your laptop backward - one of the areas I suggest needs improvement. The removable shelf allows you to place your portable hard drive and/or interface beneath your latop, making setup and organization that much easier. The rubber "feet" and tips helps to keep the stand and your laptop from sliding. Breaking the stand down is a cinch. Simply disconnect nylon tie, remove shelf, fold and store in the included nylon bag. Overall good stand. A hybrid of the uberstand and the crane, reasonably price would make a great stand!
This stand is durable and very flexable which is great. The hight is also right. Besides that this product blows I am constantley moving my laptop in place because it slides. I have had this product for 2 months and I don't like it. This is the first time I bought somthing at the guitar center a regreted it.
Just purchased an uberstand and I'm a really disappointed with how unstable it is. My 15" macbook pro is in peril sitting on this thing, as it takes very little effort to tip the stand backwards. It needs some sort of stabilization extensions on the back of the base to stop the falling backward motion. Hopefully I can get my money back when I return this to Guitar Center. Oh yeah...REALLY? I zip tie to keep the stand from collapsing? Come on, Stanton...
The Uberstand does what it is supposed to do and is sturdy for heavy laptops. I like the fact that it folds and can be put in it's own storage bag. Doesn't take up too much room at all for hauling. However, folding is the biggest downfall. It doesn't lock into place when open. I have to use ties connected from the stand onto the ATA case, to prevent it from falling backwards if it is bumped the wrong way. A locking mechanism is needed to improve the product from good to great product.
The placement is not great if you like having a clear view of the dancefloor. It also doesn't firmly support your laptop. The shelf (which I use for an external HD) doesn't lock in place, it uses friction to stay in place - which means a jolt from a dancing patron could cause major havoc. I bought it, so I use it when I have limited space, but when I do use it I'm always nervous.
This is an excellent investment. It has a slick design, and takes less than a minute to set up or take down. It slides comfortably into your setup, putting your laptop right where you need it - in front of you. It is durable, yet light, and supports your computer effortlessly. The only downside to it is that if it is directly over your mixer, it is a little difficult to reach under the stand to adjust knobs or switches. Other than that, its great!
I had the stand for like 4mo's now and it is very very good not heavy easy to use and the best is it really works for turntables and dc player dj's very good.
This stand has made my life easier.....Others were too low and unreliable...this stand is an essential item for today's DJ. Quit suffering and get yourself a UBERSTAND!!
