Good Beginner Turntable

By David Rhoderick

Comments about T.80 Digital Direct Drive Turntable with Stanton 500B Cartridge:

This is a very good turntable. Much has been said before this review that is true. I think the torque or build design could be a tad bit better for scratching, especially since I am more of a turntablist than a DJ. I could see this thing being awesome for mixing. I think that the pitch and motor seems very stable over time but I don't do that much mixing. I actually only have one right now and I am going to have to get another. This is great for mixers and beginner scratchers. It only lacks 0.2 kg/cm compared to Technics. The line outs are amazing though.

Perfect Mix Machine

By DJ EZ Muney

from Buffalo, NY

Comments about T.80 Digital Direct Drive Turntable with Stanton 500B Cartridge:

I've been practicing hip-hop DJing for about a year now on stanton's str 30 turntables and the t.80's are a BIG step up for me. The torque is tough so there is no lag at all when letting go of a scratch. This is true. However, there is a slight lag when the motor starts, but it stops on the dime. It's reverse takes around 4 seconds to kick off but thats expected, even in the TTX'S. I found the pitch control to be smooth and accurate when mixing. To be honest, i can't really find a logical use for the pitch lock function. Im old skool so all I do is change the pitch for blends and beat matching. The 500b cartridge has average sound and it also skips when heavy scratching. I had extra headshell wieghts (4kgs) left over from my last set up and it really kills the problem. I suggest investing in a higher priced stanton or ortofon needle with the weight for flawless performance. I haven't utilized the digital function yet, but im sure it's dope with the stanton t.80s being the few models with digital features. Flat out, the stanton t.80s are for DJs who's primary focus is to MIX and do a little scratching. Turntablist need that extra torque (4.5kg)
