I have been a dj for about 14 years and most of that time I thought I would never see anything that can beat the 1200. There has been other tables that were faster or have had more features than the 12 but none locked on or felt as nice when used until now. Stanton really did it!!!

While everybody only looks at the outside
and no so called pro reviewer has watched
inside, i can tell you that the used capa-
citors(a lot)are from the brand su'scon,
and those are very low quality caps.
The pcb's are except the mainboard of poor quality. The way the power is supplied is done with a range of coupled
voltage regulators, 7800 and 7900,which design is from the seventies and a lot of energy is turned into heat. And i've read stories from people where the table stopped after an hour ,playing on a party. That's the thermal protection of the ic's which get too hot.
There is no reason why the upperdeck plate weights 10kg without anything on it, but it makes the cheap feet, totally useless .I've rebuild them both totally,
including bearing of the stator and replaced all capacitors and put some better ic's in it an made an hole in the owercase, because there's allmost no ventilation and standard cooling blocks are allmost touching the downplate.
And i use other feet, made for this weight.
Be smart, buy a technics, cause all kinds of new gear is made for it, better then the original and when it comes to spare parts for an oem table.....you don't find it....
Those capacitors will blow after 2 a 3 years, cause thy cost a couple of cents....

Comments about Stanton STR8-150 Digital Turntable:

Stanton did it right with the STR8. This is the nicest vinyl table that I have ever owned. I used to love my Vestax but this thing puts them to shame. The Technic Killer! Spend the extra money and buy it. Musicians friend has the best price for it as well. I would recommend this from amateur to a touring DJ. The quality is phenomenal. I'm saving to buy a 2nd one to pair with my 1st one. You definitely get what you pay for with the STR8-150

About Me Experienced

Comments about Stanton STR8-150 Digital Turntable:

I used Technics 1200s since 1987, but 2 years ago I sold them to a friend who needed a replacement set for his club. After I while I started to miss them! I tried replacing them with 'digital controllers' but never felt satisfied. I don't like 'used' things so I decided to take a chance on the STR8-150s. They are rock solid. I'm a bedroom DJ so I couldn't justify the expense of new 1200's but these have yet to skip, even doing that crazy helicopter vibration scratch.

Comments about Stanton STR8-150 Digital Turntable:

phono + digital outputs with built in pre-amp a plus.

the directions are a big vague and tricky..took a bit of trial and error to get it running if you've never dealt with turntables before. but with everything theres always that learning curve.

wish it had a dust cover for home use, but that's my only complaint.
also i'm still confused about the anti-skate dial, cause there are no numbers on it, so i have no clue how to set that up with the dial given

    Stanton STR8-150 Digital Turntable

    By DENNIS BROWN

    from ALBUQUERQUE, NM

Comments about Stanton STR8-150 Digital Turntable:

Just bought 2 of these to replace my 12yrs old Technics 1200 MK2's and I'm sorry to say that these turntables really put the 1200's to shame, so it would seem like the old industry-standard turntable is a bust and it's a bout-time too.. with the strongest torque motor (these things stop & start on a dime) along with reverse, with 8% 25% and up too 50% Pitch, you won't EVER loose a beat ...try getting those features on a 1200, you won't, as the 1200's aren't even made anymore... and don't believe the hype about a Srt8-tone-arm not having good sound quality over a s-shape, this simply isn't the case at all, both ship right outta the box with the Stanton 680.v3 cartridge and it's factory angled & portioned on the head-shell for best sound quality......Thanks Stanton :)

    Great Turntable, sl1200 killer...

    By Aaron Armiga

    from SoCal

Comments about Stanton STR8-150 Digital Turntable:

I took 5 years off DJing, after selling my old sl1210s, my poineer mixer.. I started shopping, after reading reviews on these tables in DJ gear forums, I found and purchased these on Guitarcenter.com. The motor unit and pitch control on these are amazing.. The pitch range is so easy to adjust on the fly, and the str8 really gives to a ton of room to work on your records. They scratch really well right out the box..

    WOW!!!

    By The Insane Demon

    from Bronx, NY

Comments about Stanton STR8-150 Digital Turntable:

OK.. so after testing out the ST 150 with the Shure M44-7 cartridges the skip was minimum after angling the cartridges. But then I bought the STR8 150s for more skip resistance. After testing these out with the Shure M44-7 cartridges, they are the best. The needle does not move even on the craziest scratches, i am very impressed with the STR8 150s. These are really for the scratching DJ.

    Sweet Deck!

    By DJ-Eremy

    from Northwest USA

Comments about Stanton STR8-150 Digital Turntable:

I purchased the STR8 last November, no Tech 12s in town and I needed a second deck for a gig that weekend. Ended up buying it blind and since have added 3 more 150's for a total of 4. I run a mobile DJ company and have used the Techs for over 20 years now. (I even have two Tech 1300s:)). I won't be going back. The Stanton is my table of choice from now on. The only knock I have is on the counter weight. Could be a bit better quality, but it does the trick. Love the cart, the speed, the brake, the weight of the whole unit, and aesthetically....a great looking deck. VERY impressed!

    Totally remarkable...

    By Skipbone

    from Excelsior, MN

Comments about Stanton STR8-150 Digital Turntable:

I'm enormously impressed with the Stanton STR8.150. I was expecting it to be high quality, but my expectations have been exceeded. It's built like a tank, that is, if they built tanks in Switzerland. The power of the motor, and the control is amazing. In retrospect, perhaps I should have purchased the ST.150 S-shaped tonearm version. At the same time, I'm not hearing any distortion from edge to center. If there's anything happening with a straight arm, it must be subtle. A spherical stylus is probably a good idea on this turntable, though.
