Overview

For the first time ever, Squier introduces a Vintage Modified Telecaster Custom guitar with Fender-designed Wide Range humbucking pickup in the neck position for incredibly full tone. The Wide Range humbucking pickup is an acclaimed and time-honored Fender innovation, complemented here by a sharp, clear Duncan Designed TE-101B single-coil bridge pickup.

Players have done it for years. Whether installing hotter pickups, different pickguards or just plain personalizing their instruments with distinctive paint jobs, modified means adding new twists to familiar designs. Squier's Vintage Modified series excels at just that, imparting hot-output chop-shop sound, feel and value to traditional instrument designs.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster Custom Electric Guitar:

Love Teles! I have a Fender American Elite and a Fender Thinline. Saw this being played at local GC and was quite impressed by the shrieking pinch harmonics. Gave it a spin and instantly knew I was buying it. Unplugged the guitar resonates like an acoustic...from that alone you know it is a very well made guitar. The Fender Wide Range neck pick up gives you very warm, creamy tones for blues and jazz while the bridge pup gives you the spank sparkle and twang you are going for in a Tele. Pinch harmonics in the bridge position are SICK and effortless. The individual volume and tone controls make a huge difference setting this one apart from other Tele models with the single volume and single tone arrangement...you can really dial in the sound you need for a certain style or cover you are doing. I have the black model and it looks stunning. The neck is very glossy but not sticky at all, but I think I will get at the back of the neck with some 600 grit sandpaper. Comfortable weight. It needed a set up but all guitars do. Had the action lowered and strung it with 010-046s. No frets overhand the fingerboard. No fret buzz. It stays in tune fine but I feel the tuning keys are a bit flimsy...I notice some slack in them. Not crazy about the 3 barrel bridge; I prefer 6 saddle bridges to keep the spacing among strings equal. I also don't like ashtray style bridge plates because they make me change my rakes. Ashtrays also make me re-route my strums closer to the neck. Don't let these minor complaints keep you from buying this beauty, though. Those are all very minor upgrades eventually. This is a monster guitar for the price; I'd go so far to say it's the only guitar one would ever need. Try one..then buy one..then start practicing and playing! Best wishes to all in their guitar and musical journeys.
