Comments about Vintage Modified Squier '51:

I love this Guitar. For the price it is absolutely great. I have a lot of fun playing it which means I play it often.

Initially the neck finish was just a little rough, not bad, but not nice. So I ran 3000 grit sandpaper over the finish lightly and it is now perfect. It needed a proper set up which I found with my New Gibson Les Paul at 7 times the price. The action was a little high, it needed some relief, (it had none), the bridge needed adjustment, the nut was fine and the intonation was way off. But again this was also true on my New Gibson Les Paul. I know there are some that are great out of the box this one was not. It played fine and sounded fine, it just needed some adjustment. So what!

That does not bother me in the least and it should not deter future buyers. Every Guitar Player should buy a Basic Guitar Maintenance book and feel comfortable doing basic things. It helps you learn about your guitar and makes the guitar feel much more personal to you. Your guitar with your setup preferences.

There are lots of Clubs and Forums for this guitar with tons and tons of modifications available. If you want a guitar that you are not afraid to take on a trip with you or not afraid to experiment with on any kind of Mod imaginable, then this would be perfect.

I like the Stock Sound with the Stock Pickups and don't want to change any of that. I may make a few asthetic changes. Fancier string guides, different Pick Guard, maybe rosewood fretboard someday. But there is nothing I or you have to change to enjoy this Guitar. I give it 5 Stars because I can't find anything wrong with it to complain about. Plays great, sounds great, stays in tune, looks great and looks different so people like to ask... "What's that?".

Plus I was Born in October of 1951, so I had to have one... Could never afford an original Fender 1951 Guitar so this will have to do and it does just fine!! Get one, can't go wrong. Someone will want it if you don't.

Comments about Vintage Modified Squier '51:

I always breakdown and setup new instruments when I purchase them. Minimal adjustment on pickups and just a 30 minute sit down with an allen wrench for saddle height adjustments. Intonation was right on out of the box. Put a couple of coats of polish on and looks and feels great! Good balance, neck and frets are spot on and plays awesome. Sounds awesome. Can see a little of the wood grain coming through but I like it. Gives it a very cool uniqueness. Color is more of a Cafe Latte off white. Nice!

Comments about Vintage Modified Squier '51:

This guitar sounds and plays great! I like it so much more than my Epiphone SG400 Pro. Much more balanced neck, matte finish on neck allows for smoother left hand movement, solid and harsh sounds, aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I use it right out of the box. No need for adjustments. I may have it set up in the future but I doubt it would make much of a difference as it seems to be set up just fine. I have the vintage blonde color which quite beautiful, but the paint job could be better. In some light I can see the wood grain through the paint. Mostly on the back so it's not a huge deal, but if you're extremely picky this may bother you.

I bought one of these in Candy Apple Red. The Neck Feels and plays like butter.I bought it with the idea of changing out the Pickups ...But the stock sounds pretty good...You get some nice sounds out of the 51...I am going to do some cosmetic mods on it to make it mine....the body on this thing is cut ....Maybe a 1/4 inch thinner than a Strat....But I like it....Very light weight Guitar....Solid. Looks Great. Unique!..Can not beat a Guitar this good at the Price!....Go Out Today!!! and Buy One!!!

Comments about Vintage Modified Squier '51:

Just picked one up (blonde) at my local GC last weekend. I'm in love! Tones galore, great playing neck, cool look and cheap. This is nowhere near the same low end quality of the other Squiers in its price range... more like the $299+ end (playability, not cosmetics). This is a simple guitar. The magic is in the large variety of tones. You can nearly get it all. I will say it doesn't sound like a Stratocaster or Telecaster. Somewhere in the middle. Had no problem setting it up with 12's. The input jack can come loose, but no problem. I have never played one of the originals, so I can't compare the necks. This neck feels and plays great. No fret issues or need to adjust the truss. Bridge is solid and way better than what was fitted on the original model. String thru body is great too (another difference from the original). I will probably change out the bridge hb because I like a certain tone with distortion, BUT it is not a necessity. Honestly this guitar is a joy to play. Let's put a smile on that face!
