This bass is sick. I play everyday and nothing has ever gone wrong. When you first get it though you have replace the strings because the stock are really rattley and don't sound to hot. The color is amazing because it gives it kind of like its own personality because no other bass can compare to the color. Although some other people say the body is alittle big, it fits me perfectly.

my rating says 3 but i give it 3.5 its good for a bgginer but if you have some sufficient experience youll wish it was better. this was my first bass but i could already play pretty well and its not working for me. i had to put a rubber band on the tuners to stop it from buzzing and many of the notes buzz. other than that it was well made for the price and pretty nice

great intermediate bass

By jordan9014

from orlando,fl

this was my second bass and when i got it i wanted a fender p bass but i decided not to get one because fenders are for better players. so as a intermediate bassist i bought the squire p bass manily for the look. well i took it home and after a week or so i came to the conclusion that this bass was better than the fender, great action, pickups are superb, i changed the strings to ghs bass boomers lights they sound amazing. buy this bass.

Despite what some people say about Fender and Squire, I really like this bass, and i've play some ESPs, Warwicks and even some really nice Ibanezs. But I still picked this one, I think if you decide to buy this, You will not be disapointed!

pleasant surprise

By my names lance

from georgetown,TEXAS!

ok i went into guitar center to get the squire ventige jazz bass but they didnt have it, so i grabed this off the rack and played it a little bit and somewhat reluctantly bought it because it wasnt what i came in to get. but after playing it for a couple of months i love it but u need to get new strings when u get it because the ones that come on it are a little bit rattley. and im used to playing a jazz bass and it seemed that the body was a little bit big so if ur small u might look akward. i completely love the white body with black fretboard, im yet to see another bass like it, it gives it a certian edge that u dont get with a black or red body like most people have. i would say that this is a definate buy. >

Better than most

By Billy Martin

from LaGrange GA

I own 5 basses, to begin with. Two LTDs, Two Squires including this one, and a Dean. Of them all, this is my absolute favorite. I play in a very heavy band, Grindcore to be exact. Thinking I needed a 5 string to play our style better, I set this bass in a stand and bought a b-105 by LTD. 6 weeks later, I'm going back to my squire. Not saying the LTd is bad, in fact it's amazing, but in comparison this bass blows it away. The neck on this bass is extremely comfortable, so is the body, which really allows you to sling it around onstage and have no problems. It stays in tune (and we tune to Drop A#/A# standard) for a week or two if i keep it in it's case. Great bass. buy it.

Phenomenal for the money.

By Richard

from Norwalk, California

I own 8 other basses, mostly high end including Warwicks, MTD's,and Gibsons. If you close your eyes, this bass sounds and plays like the mid 70's American P-Bass I used to have.I originally looked for a Classic Vibe P-bass but I didn't like the lacquered neck. This bass only has a couple of differences. It's made in Indonesia vs China, it has a satin finish neck which I like a lot better and which is much faster and more comfortable IMHO,and its body is Agathis vs Basswood.Agathis sounds a little darker but with the Duncan designed pickups this instrument has great definition,as good as a "real" P-Bass.Like the Fender equivalent,I like this bass because the neck feels right (a little wider at the nut than the Vintage Modified J-Bass;same radius but more comfy)and you can dig in and play more aggressively without the strings clattering. For the money, this instrument is astounding.I don't care if the headstock says "Squier". This instrument is well built, sounds good, and is an incredible dollar value.I will take this instrument to any gig;it's that good. One caveat: The setup on these instruments varies widely.I played about a half dozen at various music stores.I finally found one that had a perfect setup,at a shop where I know them to have a good luthier/setup person. It's either that, or be prepared to have a good setup applied by a qualified luthier you trust.

great bass

By Sri V

from houston , tx

I just got this bass last week at GC houston. I tried several bass including the MIM p and j and the squier j as well as the american p and j. This bass sounded great it was as good as or better then the MIM and very close to the american p bass. It has a very nice deep end due the adler body and rosewood neck. I play with flatwounds and do motown, reggae and jazz. I may not be jamerson but my bass certainly can get that deep rich sound. And no dead spots and came set up very well. The folks at gc were amazed by how good the bass sounded also. If you are looking for that vintage sound , in my case motown and funk, this is the way to go. I cant recommend this bass enough, but go try it against any p bass especially fenders.

This bass...

By ultramittent

from Fivetwenty

..is pretty good! I've heard good things and bad things about Squier instruments, but I didn't find much wrong with it. The frets were a little buzzy, just a little. The strings were okay too. The sound of this bass in particular was very nice ande very clean. I was very pleased!

Exactly what I was looking for

By Andrew Angelin

from Morristown, NJ

Being an electric bassist for almost nine years now, I have always enjoyed the feel and playability of Squire P-Basses. Anybody that tells you that Fender's are for better players are absolutely wrong, It's the player, not the bass. That being said, I was thrilled when I purchased this stylish looking axe, Squire has definitely upgraded their P-Bass models from nine years ago to now. I recommend buying a fresh set of strings along with this bass, the factory strings don't have much character to their sound. I would also make sure to get this bass adjusted as you will probably notice some slight E string buzzing. The Duncan Design pickups are fantastic, I'm already getting some awesome recorded tones with this baby. In conclusion, whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or virtuoso, this bass will make you shine.

Awesome, but...

By Thomas

from New Zealand

This is a nice bass, and it sounds great with the new Ernie Ball Super Slinky's, the original strings weren't that nice, real buzzy and flat sounding. The wood isn't that nice either, the head is heavier than the body. But its great for hard rock, esp when played through a 300w+ amp. Gets a real nice growl. I love to play this in drop d too, the action is real nice out of the box, and the neck makes it a dream to play along the fretboard. This is my first bass, and I would stress that it is an excellent first bass, but if ya want to play in a band then a Fender P Bass would be a much better choice.

Great Buy!

By N.Bass

from Bolingbrook

Picked this bass up only a few days ago and have not been able to put it down. It is affordable and plays just as good or even better than anything I have ever handled. Buy this bass if you are looking for a nice, sturdy bass to use for many years.

Great bass, for a great price. Has everything I wanted in a bass: playability, comfort, tone, and quality. This guitar has a beginer price, but rest assured that everything else is pro.

Great Bass!

By FullMetalSweater

from Phelan California

This is an awesome bass. Good tone, cool look, plus it seems to be almost indestructable. The only cons are that the neck is a little thick and if you have small hands it can be difficult to play songs that are technical and high on the neck for a long time, the action has to be kept a little high, and there was a weekend a couple months after I got it that the tone control stopped working, i just opened it up, blew the dust out, and it worked just fine. Good bass for a good Price.

Oh... My... GOD!

By Kelsey

from Winslow, Illinois

So I've been hunting around for a cool lookin bass to play in my school's Jazz Band. I play electric guitar but unfortunately we can't play that in Jazz Band at my school and I've been wanting to try bass since I first played my friend's Fender P Bass. I took one look at this baby and thought,"This is the one." I loved the color on it and the fretboard was absolutely beautiful. I've never seen anoher bass like it! This bass is so affordable and versatile so I can jam to metal whenever I want. This bass has everything I've been looking for and more. I'm definitely buying this next time I'm in Guitar Center!!!

Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass

By Dillon

from Gainesville, Georgia

I bought this bass in June 2008 after years of mainly sticking to my Fender Jazz Bass & Ibanez SRX. This bass gave a wonderful sound through an Acoustic bass rig and I even played a gig with it a week after my purchase at GC Atlanta. The main problem I had with this bass was the lightness of the body. If I so much as let my hand off the neck the body weight wouldn't support it and would thus cause the neck to fall to the floor. I tried to compensate, but that took too much concentration and I sold the bass after just 4 months of ownership. Great sound! Great feel! Great pickup! Just a bad weight balance. And I mean BAD!
