Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass V:

Love the looks of this bass but this has to be the worst bass setup I have ever seen. I am having to get this thing professionally setup cause the strings are no joke about a mile high off the fret board.....I couldn't find any in the store to buy so I had to order online. I haven't had the best of luck ordering things online from Guitar Center and well this was another one on that list.

I purchased this Squire Precision 5 because Fender does not offer a 5 String Precision in Sunburst Finish with Maple Fret Board.

      Very pleased with my purchase.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass V:

I have many Fender Jazz V's . I was waiting for a five string Precision. The sound is excellent and the action has made it my bass of choice. Another nice surprise was its light compared to most of my Jazz basses. I'm really happy with it.

        Very nice bass!

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass V:

I'm a 60-year-old, working, pro musician, and custom bass builder. I bought this bass just to add a 5-string to the fleet, without spending a lot of money. I didn't expect it to be as good as it is. Seriously- IMO it looks, plays and sounds just as good as the USA Precision V, but for $1,000 less. Absolutely love this bass!!

        Super nice bass!

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass V:

I'm a 60-year-old working, pro musician, and custom bass builder. I bought the VM Precision V as an inexpensive 5-string addition to the fleet. When it arrived, I just tuned it up and set the truss rod, and it looks and plays like a USA Standard. Seriously- this bass is so nice that I feel like I bought the American... Only it was 1/5th the price! These Indonesian Squires will become the sought-after classics of the future.

a 5 string for the P bass guy!

        By Joshua

        from Jacksonville NC

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass V:

This bass is the perfect fit for guys like me, a p bass/Fender purist that needs a 5 string for a few songs that looks and feels as quality as the Fender basses in my rack. I owned the American fender 5 but I can't justify $1300 wrapped up in a bass I play for maybe 3 songs a night. This model is not in stores so you don't see many unlike the Jazz models. Fender should put out a Mexican P bass 5 but until then this is the one for me!

Great 5 wire for tjhe money

        By Glenn

        from Arvada, CO

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass V:

Classic P-bass thump, on the cheap. As another reviewer noted, this bass came ready to play right out of the box. The sunburst finish is surprisingly good considering this bass has a basswood body. I deducted one star simply because this bass suffers from a malady very common to the type: the floppy, sloppy B string. The fault lies in the form factor: a 34" scale bass, especially one that does not have a string-through body, simply will not have enough tension on the B to prevent problems. The best of all worlds for a fiver (IMO) is a neck-through body, strings through body, and 35" scale. Be prepared to pay big $$ for your strings, though. Having said that, you'd have to pay upwards of 4 to 5 times what this bass costs. Summary: not perfect, but the best five you will find for the money. In this price range you'd be hard pressed to find a better buy on a five string bass, or a four, for that matter.

Solid sound, Nicely built & Great look.

        By Chuck Glass

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass V:

I pulled my red Squier P-bass 5-er out of the box & was immediately impressed with the finish and craftsmanship without considering it's an import & costs under $300! I plugged it in and was even more impressed with it's tone. It has the traditional Fender P thump & growl w/ some nice high end cut when you need it. It's a keeper for me. I'm a road vet from way back and I gotta say I tried a 1/2 dozen of the new $1300+ USA P 5's and I like my Squier P 5 much better. Also I didnt have to do any set up on it. No tweeks. Came w/ great action and tuned up nicely. Sounded mighty fine on the demo I did with it today too. A very cool bass at any price! Do yourself a favor and check this thing out. www.chuckglassmusic.com
