I have a thing for fixing up cheap basses. I'm a professional gigging musician, and this is my third Squier. I'd already purchased Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound pickups and a high mass bridge, but the quality of this instrument right out of the box was very impressive. The sound is snappy and articulate without sacrificing a tight low end. The soft maple body is a huge bonus, especially in this price range--it sounds much brighter and snappier than basswood, and is quite a bit heavier, which helps with the sustain. Overall, this is a great instrument stock, and will be even better with a few minor upgrades--a fine addition to my collection.

Great bass but delayed delivery and cracks in varnish.

I will be using this product for future albums I'm working on, along as alternative bass for my bassist to use, and possible back up live.

Played and sounded great right of the box.
Electronics had that Jazz bass growl and snap and the bottom is tight and rounded. Great neck and the E isn't floppy (Like what you'd find on cheaper instruments.)I would recommend this bass to anyone on any level.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass '70s:

This was my first (non-copy) bass, and I'm NOT disappointed in my decision. I was stuck between an Epiphone Thunderbird, Squier Jaguar, and this jazz, but after a few minutes play time, I knew I needed this beaut. My brother (an avid guitar player) said it felt easy to play. 10/10 would bUy agAiN
P.S. Regarding the versatility, I play mostly Punk and metal, and this is, surprisingly, a dream for both while running a rumble 25

This my first new bass since 1964. I played rock and roll before I went into the Army. I decided on this bass after playing several at Tulsa Guitar Center....plays well and sounds as good as its big brother. Being retired is sounding great.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass '70s:

Just want to start off by saying that I have been playing for almost 3 years and out of all the squire basses I have played this is the best yet.. I own the natural body and it is a beautiful bass! the bass comes exactly as pictured. two great vintage styled jazz pickups with metal volume/tone knobs, it comes with a smooth maple neck and black block fret inlays. the tone of the bass is very versatile.. I am primarily a punk player and this bass delivers a great sound, its also great with metal, funk, jazz, and a whole bunch of other genres

overall this bass is really cool, definitely worth the money

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass '70s:

This is a wonderful bass, a great secondary bass to someone who's tired of a starter pack bass specifically. Great pickups, great feel, and an overall very bright tone, making it perfect for learning slap and pop and other experienced playing methods. One of the pickup's knob's turning motion has gotten rough and a little unpleasant, but that's my only complaint. 9/10, even better for the price.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass '70s:

I own a 2015 Fender American Deluxe jazz. I picked up this bass as a backup. Honestly, eyes closed, I would have a hard time telling them apart based on feel and tone. Neck is perfect, frets are level, action is as good or maybe better than my Deluxe, tone is classic and fat. An incredible value when compared to other Fender basses, I can't imagine anyone would be disappointed with this instrument at twice the price.
