I bought this at my local GC after an unsuccessful hunt for an electric guitar. It was just sitting there for demo. At that point the only Jaguar Basses I knew of where actual Fender models or the Troy Sanders signature. I plugged this thing into an Ampeg 20W and wow. I used to not care for active anything in an instrument. I am a changed man. With the active features there is No. Buzz. At. All I play mostly everything but country & classical and it does the job and some. This thing puts out that rounded, versatile sound through the entire P/J pickup configuration. While the Jazz pickup puts out that sweet, articulate sound, and at the same time the Precision pickup captures that deep, throaty, guttural growl that makes a P-bass so loved. The neck is basically a Jazz neck, fits to the pocket of my hand like it was made for me(I play bottle-neck style). I can honestly say if you find the price to steep; you're either genuinely cannot afford it, or you need to loosen the choke-hold on your wallet, because I fell like I got this for a steal at retail. Only "con" is no case/gig bag. But if you getting it at your local Guitar Center, they sell those too, it's not like your buying a Fender custom shop, It's a Squier, let's be real.

In conclusion. Amazing Bass! Actually looking into the 5-string model for my low end work. Again. Wow. Just Wow.

Cheers.

Beautiful bass, from the pictures. I found this bass at a Guitar Center but didn't like the starburst color. The I went online and found the Crimson Red and ordered it. That was before Xmas. This specific color is backordered. Mine may be on its way in the next week, we'll see. Guitar Center is doing their best and has compensated me for the delay. There is nothing on the online purchase telling you the item you want is backordered. Unless the item you want is at the store you want it shipped to, do not assume you'll get it quickly. The other items I purchased went straight to the store within 1 week, it's just the backordered bass. Can't wait to play it.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar Electric Bass Guitar Special:

This is the first bass I have owned, and after reading a lot of reviews, I went with this one, in 3-color sunburst. Out of the box, the strings (as always) were awful, so I switched those out. The factory setup was poor; a lot of fret buzz, the pickups weren't the proper height, etc. Nothing horrible, and a couple minutes of work to set it up, it sounds better, except for a slight string buzz as the nut is off. But, for the price you can't really complain. There is a bit of a nick near the jack, but it's out of sight, so not worth the effort or hassle to exchange the bass.

Overall, as a new bass player, this is a great sounding bass. It plays very easily and nicely, and the added bass boost really packs a punch. For the price, you cannot beat this bass.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar Electric Bass Guitar Special:

I bought this about six months ago. The neck was pretty bowed up initially, but then I messed with the action and truss rod a bit which made it all the more easy to play. The pickups don't give as satisfying of a sound as other basses I own, but if you have a low budget and want a solid, playable instrument for practice/ jamming purposes.

Love this bass. Not as smooth as my MusicMan Bass, but has a better, grittier tone for rock and roll. This bass looks good and has great balance. It is also a Fender, so it has great sound. Love it!!

It is nearly worthy of a 5 rating. Might have been a 5 if I didn't have to re-do the setup.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar Electric Bass Guitar Special:

This is an amazing bass for the price. The quality and fit and finish is surprisingly good. It is my gigging instrument of choice. My band hosts a blues jam and we get many talented players coming to play. Many of those have played this bass and are completely surprised at how well it plays and how good it sounds. The only thing I changed was to put flat-wound strings on it. I have other basses that cost much more, but this one stands on its own.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar Electric Bass Guitar Special:

As a beginner, I am on a steep learning curve, and read all the reviews before I went to the Guitar Center to play one. I loved the feel of the Jazz Bass neck they use on the Squire Vintage Jaguar. I was a little leary about the comments regarding setup, so I spoke the guys at the Commack NY Guitar Center and they ensured me that they would check it out and make sure it was playable before I took it home. When I came back to buy, even though it was a busy Friday afternoon Beau and Steve checked out the guitar, brought it to the technicians for a look. Thanks! I had a great weekend playing this thing. I would recommend it to anyone.

This is an amazing bass. I would buy it for my second, third, fourth, and so on as a bass. I purchased it a few days ago, and although I am a beginner, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to buy a quality bass. I can reach the notes easily, even though I am 5'2". The tone is amazing. You can play from jazz all the way to heavy metal. If you are a beginner, I recommend this bass.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar Electric Bass Guitar Special:

Bought this bass just 2 days ago in 3-tone sunburst. The jazz and p pickups sound great. The only problems I have had so far is the length of the thing, just be careful not to bump into anything. That, and the neck of it is a little thin, so dropping it might be an issue, but that's sort of to be expected. Anyway, great bass for the price, well worth the money.
