Was everything and more!

By Dane

from Nashville, TN

I was looking for an inexpensive bass for my son to have at his studio to pick up for recording purposes when needed. It was a christmas gift and since I already bought him an acoustic guitar I didn't want to spend too much! I had it shipped to store and while I was looking at guitar straps I noticed the guys who worked there playing it and looking it over! I could tell they thought it sounded good and one of the guys had never seen a short scale bass before. He was impressed! I think this is a great buy for a great bass! My son loved it!

Great bass at a great price!

By Richard

from Columbus MS

I?ve been a professional bassist since 1965, performing with several major name acts. I?ve owned basses ranging in price from $75 (my first bass ? a Sears Silvertone, which I still have) to $2400, plus my $8000 upright. I bought the Squier Jaguar SS after playing one at a Guitar Center. This is a wonderful bass for the price, far beyond what one would expect in build quality and tone. The only negative concern is the bridge pickup. There?s not as much difference in tone between the two pickups as one usually finds in a Jazz style configuration. This is probably due to the relative close spacing of the two pickups. The tone from the bridge pickup is not unusable, it?s just not as distinctive as on other two-pickup basses.

a lot for the money

By FRANK JACKSON

from Norfolk Virginia

I play short scale bass in my group and I needed a backup to take on gigs. Short scale basses are not in plentiful supply so when I found the Fender/Squire Jaguar I was totally surprised. It has great workmanship and plays very easily. It would be a good starter bass for a young player. It can hold it's own with my regular instrument. The tones are great and after I put some round wound strings on it I couldn't put it down. It is not just another inexpensive bass, it is a great instrument and would work in any type of music.

What's not to like?

By Jefferson Hancock

from Santa Cruz, CA

Great bass for the money. Played it tonight at a gig. Sounded fantastic. Plenty of low end. Good enough growl on high end. Audience members couldn't believe it when I told 'em how much I paid for it, and it looks terrific. Great action out of the box. No adjustment required. Stays in tune. Great string bending for English when you need it. The short scale is a great relief for my aching hands. I'm used to playing a much heavier much longer bass, so I really like being able to move around on this bad boy without much trouble. Hey, it's not the Mustang that I wanted, but it didn't cost 800 bucks either, and it sounds great, though I'm still working out the nuances of the knobs. No pickup selector layout is alien to me, but that's a dumb thing to complain about. Heck, why complain. Great bass! Great price. Nuff said. This is not the piece of junk you'd expect it to be for this price. As someone who's been playing daily for 30 years, I can vouch for this instrument.

Candy Red

By Kevin Grant

from Ossian, indiana

Ordered this in Red. opened it up in the store, plugged into an Ampeg amp, and jammed with the music in the store. This bass is great for guitar players that want to double on bass.

This was one of the first basses I've owned. It is worth every penny, you get a good quality instrument for such a great price! I wish it was in sunburst! The look and feel is just astounding, I'd recommend it for anyone, especially beginners!

Get Shorty

By DAVID DEJOSEPH

from Wilmington

This is truly an easy playing great sounding bass. It's light weight and saves my shoulder and back. Don't let the low price fool you it sounds like it's pricier heavy brother.

Don't over think this bass

By Garryl Sun

from San Bruno, California

A mind can be a terrible thing, it can make you decide this bass can't be that good for the price, Guitar center is not the place to buy a musical instrument. Well I was was wrong on both counts. I have short scale basses (5 different ones) some that cost $600 more. I bought this finally since the the reviews, seemed so good. Do yourself a favor and just forget about the price. It's just plain great. Get a good leather strap to cure the neck dive which it does have. (Not near EB O bad) and decent set of strings ( which all basses seem to need) Just read the other reviews as they do cover this bass quite well.

By James Finley

This little bass came today, and I must say it is amazing! I put it down for a minute to write this review. It looks great, feels great, good action, and sound great thru my ampeg BA 108. Straight out of the box, you hear and feel the quality of this bass. I would recommend it to anyone!
