Great sound for little $$

By ttlax23

from Bridgewater, NJ

I bought the sidekick as my first amp and I still use the clean channel of that amp to record since it is so chimey and bright. It's nice and simple to use so it's perfect for a beginner's amp. The overdrive channel is okay for some rock but it's not for metal or other high gain requiring genre's. The drive channel is crunchy but has a limited range

Great beginner amp

By Ryan33

from NJ

This amp is great for any beginner guitarist. Sounds great with a squier strat. The clean channel is very bright and loud, but the distortion isn't really anything to boast about. Only thing I'd rather see would be a 10" speaker instead of the 8" speaker, which would make a lot of difference. If this is in your price range, go with it, if you can afford a bit more, look for a 15 watt with a 10" speaker.

Squier sidekick amp

By Les Paul Guy43

from Western N.Y

This amp is a good amp for beginners but I would never use it for a gig or practice with the band but it is a good amp for just learning the basics and practice on your own never would want to play metal on it the distortion stinks all in all its a good amp for beginners.
