I originally bought this guitar for my daughter to learn on, but I spend more time playing it than she does. It's a real bargain for the price. This really is a mini Strat, but you don't have to be a midget to play it. It fits my 7 year old perfectly, and I can play it too. It's small enough for little hands, but spaced out properly for larger hands. I haven't had to alter this guitar in any way, but I have considered changing the pickups. Fortunately, they are regular sized, unlike the rest of the mini's parts. This instrument would be great for Teaching your kid to play, travelling, or playing out if you like the short scale! It would even be fun for playing in the passenger seat on road trips.

Got this for free as a part of a promotion, and as a starting guitar not a bad li'l thing. It does keep tuning really well for quite long if you spend the time to properly adjust the bridge right, but the frets definitely bring down the quality. First, the strings it comes with are pretty bad, so I'd just straight off replace them with a different brand. Second, the frets have many problems with intonation. You could have perfect tuning, yet still not sound right when playing anything other than an open string. I will vouch that it's very durable, and can stand up to any beating you throw at it, and the triple pickups are a great bonus for such a cheap guitar.

who says it's for beginners

By Don Lee

from San Diego, CA

Comments about Squier Mini Strat Electric Guitar:

I am an active blues and classic rock player (3-4 nights a week). In 45 years of playing, I have owned just about everything that has 6 strings on it (including the other short scale guitars). I started gigging with the mini after I hurt my back and couldn't handle the weight of a Les Paul or Strat. If you want a strat that has it all without the weight, you can't go wrong. I replaced the tuners with Schaller copies and put 11' strings on it, and it plays as well as any guitar I have ever owned (stays in tune perfectly). This little giant, and a Les Paul express, are my two main gigging guitars, and I swear by it.

An excellent little guitar!

By korz

Comments about Squier Mini Strat Electric Guitar:

I bought three of these for my kids and I'm thinking about buying one more for myself. I currently own four full-sized Stratocasters, but it would be nice to have one of these at work, just to noodle around with at lunchtime. It is smaller than a normal Stratocaster, both in body and neck, so if you have big hands, it may be difficult to play, but my hands are medium-sized and I can adapt very easily to the narrower, slimmer neck. The pickups are "just okay" quality, but they are standard sized, so you can replace them with better pickups if you choose. I've replaced all my Strat's pickups with hum-free single-coils and you might want to do that too if you intend on recording with this guitar, but for live play with a distortion, the stock pickups are fine. Squier quality has been improving steadily over the years and this guitar is well-constructed. It has a hard tail bridge, which I wish I had on my 4 full-sized Stratocasters... I just don't use the trem. I would recommend this guitar for kids and as a travel guitar for anyone with medium-to-small hands.

Great little guitar

By GMoney

from Chicago, IL

Comments about Squier Mini Strat Electric Guitar:

I recently went looking for a 3/4 scale guitar for my son and daughter to share and learn on. I felt that a 3/4 scale would keep them from getting frustrated by their limited reach on thier growing hands. I found the squire mini and was impressed enough to buy two of them (one in each color. For the money, why not?). I owned a Stat Elite years ago and loved it. This guitar really feels like my old Fender did. My kids feel like rock stars as they learn to play and I have to admit, I spend a good deal of time on these guitars as well. The only down side is that it is difficult to keep in tune although I am sure that this is partly due to new strings. I would recommend this guitar to anyone who wants to get their kids playing on what is definitely one of the coolest student guitars out there.

You Can Get Better

By EpiphoneGuy123456789

from New York, NY

Comments about Squier Mini Strat Electric Guitar:

My best friend gave me this Strat Mini and I believe it is a disgrace to guitar players everywhere. This is the kind of guitar that you deliberetly smash to pieces on tour or off tour. For one, the pickups are horrendus; every time you pluck a string you get this annoying buzzing noise and it drives me insane! Also, it will become out of tune so fast it will make your head spin! I wish this could have been a positive review, but there is not anything positive to say about the guitar.

You get what you pay for and that's not bad.

By AJ

Comments about Squier Mini Strat Electric Guitar:

This Squier Strat is a great introduction to the world of electric guitar. Yes, it needs new strings, the action and intonation set up(OK, your never going to get it perfect)right out of the box. The fact that your 6 year old can hold it correctly and get His or Her hands around the neck all for a hundred bucks and not eying up your precious guitar collection....Priceless. Rock On!

Comments about Squier Mini Strat Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar as my first electric and it's great i've had it for two and a half years and i've had to change the strings 2 times but that was a personal choice and the pick-ups are great the sound is some of the best i've heard I play pretty heavy rock but I kinda suck but this guitar makes me sound like a pro. I extremely Reccomend this guitar.

Amazing Product, for AN AMAZING PRICE!!!!

By George

from Cooper City FL

Comments about Squier Mini Strat Electric Guitar:

I had bought this for my son about a month ago and gosh i gotta say this guitar plays better than almost any other mini guitar that i had ever played. I love the sustain, it is incomparable. This is just an amazing guitar made for kids. I would never buy any other guitar for my child. I also like the red color of the strat, it doesnt keep all the finger prints on the finish which makes you NOT have to clean it everytime you use it. Well thats pretty much it, I wanted to thank fender for a job well done
