best guitar I have tried

By kimba

from Strongsville, OH

Comments about Squier Jagmaster Electric Guitar:

I am a bass player learning guitar. The Jagmaster is the most comfortable guitar I have ever played--and sounds great too, a win-win situation. I cannot say enough good about it, especially for the price! Seems very well made, I could not find any problems with the neck or electronics. The neck is a nice 24 inch that is extremely comfortable. The body is light weight. The pick ups are Duncan Design and sound great. I think this guitar is Squier's best kept secret.

Good Value That Can Take A Beating

By TheLuminous

Comments about Squier Jagmaster Electric Guitar:

I just got this guitar a couple month ago and I'm really impressed. I've played other squier guitars and have been really dissapointed. This guitar just looked too cool for such a low price to pass it up and it exceeded my expectations by far. The only problem I'm having is that I use a heavy gauge string and it's pulling the strat style bridge up. I don't use the tremolo so I would prefer a locked bridge, it can be fixed so I'm not too worried about it, but it's a slight inconvenience. My next project is going to be pickup replacement even though the stock ones sound good. Overall it's a good guitar and I really play hard and it's holding up famously. So I would recommend this guitar to everyone.

Review; Squier Jagmaster (2006, Standard Series)

By StratoGuy2003

from Grand Island, NY

Comments about Squier Jagmaster Electric Guitar:

My very first guitar was a Squier Double-Fat Stratocaster. Since then, I've moved on, and I had convinced myself that I would never again play a Fender or Squier guitar, because they lacked tone. This guitar has changed my mind. It has serious tone, and for the money, it's an excellent guitar. The 3-Tone sunburst finish is beautiful, and the red tortoise shell pickguard adds a nice touch. It plays great, due to a fast neck and Squier's affection with the 24-and-a-half-inch neckline. It's a bit heavy, as Squier's go, due to having more wood in the body than a Strat or a Tele. The only modification I'm going to do to this guitar is drop a pair of EMG 81s in it. The Seymour Duncan's it came with are nice, but I like my guitars to have balls. Tone on this guitar is great - it's meaty down low, has a nice midrange, and (to my ecstasy) it's not too bright and twangy at the high end of the tonal spectrum. Great guitar for the money! Highly recommended!

VERY NICE LOOKING GUITAR

By CommonUnusual

from Chicago

Comments about Squier Jagmaster Electric Guitar:

This guitar has some pretty nice duncan pickups, and of course, with any guitar, a whammy bar coming standard makes it just that much better! HOWEVER, i strongly reccommend buying a strong set of strings for this, because as any of you know from previous guitar buying, stock strings are AWFUL, especially from squier. These broke after doing just some simple solos, and trust me, i don't pick very hard. The only other thing that bugged me was a little bit of buzzing from the stock strings, but like i said they are definetly worth replacing instantly. You might wanna get some nice pickups too, although theres nothing wrong with the duncans, they're pretty sharp. Other than the strings this guitar defintely has a very high quality. It stays in tune very well, especially for a squier, and ive never really had to tune it after leaving it sitting around. (Ive had it for about 3 months) I'm very satisfied with this guitar's general quality. At only 250, this guitar defintely gives a good bang for its buck. You get what you pay for in every sense of the phrase, and i would defintely reccommend it if you want to stay on a tight budget, but not get a guitar that has the quality of a stratacaster! Overall this guitar is absolutely worth buying. Eventually down the road i will probably get a nicer version of it but for now im completely happy with the features, quality, and value of it.

Jagmaster

By esteban

Comments about Squier Jagmaster Electric Guitar:

I've been playing music professionally for 10 years, and you know, I was extremely surprised by this guitar. I was so caught off guard by the classic vibes that had come out and I saw this and I had no idea Fender was making budget jazzmasters. I gave it a try, and these things are built like tanks. Definitely swap out the pickups and get a few more springs added to the tremolo, but I mean, for the money of a stock guitar, this thing is gold. I would definitely recommend this guitar to any beginners, experienced players or anyone who's interested in a good starter project. YES, there are better guitars out there, but this one holds its own for the price.

Well, Well, Well....

By Jim NoSwim

from Michigan

Comments about Squier Jagmaster Electric Guitar:

I picked one of these up almost new but barely used for a steal, It had been modded with a SD 59' in the neck and a SD JB in the bridge and the tremolo had been blocked. I was amazed by the sound - all kinds of tones in this thing. I have D'Addario 9's on it which sound good on this guitar, but I'll put a set of Dunlops on when the time comes. I use a VOX VT30 and a Marshall AVT 150 with a Groove Tube upgrade halfstack and both work very well. I've heard these without the mods done and they are nice, but I would suggest the pup upgrade and defiantly change the strings to better ones.

great for a squier!

By Mr. Monopoly

from brooklyn ny

Comments about Squier Jagmaster Electric Guitar:

you cant find a better guitar from squier! i bought this as my first electric guitar and its amazing, its a good size, a good weight and an amazing sound! if you want a nirvana sound, you might need to buy a few different pedals, but this guitar is great! I got a fender telecaster thinline and this guitars sound is almost the same if not better! if you are looking for a fender guitar, with a cheap price, go with the jagmaster!

fender quality at squier price

By C.J

from franklin park, illinois

Comments about Squier Jagmaster Electric Guitar:

this guitar is amazing. i had an epiphone les paul special and i sold that to buy this guitar. i love the tone its perfect for every thing from classic rock to punk to surf. the biggest problems are that the finish doesnt hold up very well but dents and scratches give the guitar character. also when i bought it the bridge pick up didnt work so i had to get that replaced but the warranty covered that so not too bad in the end. also if you plan on playing gigs with it be careful with the pick-up selector cause its not the most durable other than that its a great buy for every one weather you are just starting out or your a professional musician

I Can't Believe its a Squier!

By John M

from New Jersey

Comments about Squier Jagmaster Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for 6 months now and it continues to blow be away. At first it caught my eye in my local music store and saw "squier" on the head stock and was instantly reluctant. But once i picked up this baby and played it I was sold. The neck and playability are gorgeous. And the tone with the Duncan designs is awesome (granted it sounds best in the middle position and tends to lack when isolating the pups). I play though a '79 Music Man 212, and squire has really managed to find that great vintage sounding tone. I HIGHLY recommend this guitar for any beginner, novice, or even an expert that doesn't want to shell out upwards of a grand for a vintage fender instrument!
