Overview

John 5 takes the Telecaster places no one else has gone before, and the Squier J5 Telecaster Electric Guitar is a double-bound beauty based on the frequently modified workhorse of a Telecaster guitar pieced together for him by the folks at the Fender Custom Shop. The Squire J5 guitar has John 5's distinctive black and chrome look-an alder body finished in gloss black, 22-fret maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard and black painted headstock, a striking polished stainless steel pickguard, and chrome hardware. The guitar's custom-designed humbucking pickups are operated via a unique dual volume set up with the bridge pickup control in the front position and the neck pickup in the back position. John 5 prefers this setup as he spends a majority of time giving the bridge pickup a workout. Using rapid movement of the 3-way toggle between positions, you can get that signature "kill" effect by turning off the neck pickup volume and leaving the bridge control full up.

Comments about Squier J5 Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar mostly because John 5 is my idol and I could own his style Telecaster at a fraction of the cost of his Fender. It sounds great although I do get an annoying buzz when not touching a piece of metal on the guitar. I know it's coming from my home electrical current because I plugged it into the exact same amp I own at Guitar Center and there was NO buzz. It's heavy so invest in a good wall hanger if that's how you want to store it. Also, the neck is smooth so your hand slides really easy up and down. I got 20% off so this was a steal. I'm seriously considering buying the Frost Gold model too.

My First Electric Guitar... I Love It!!!!!

By Kenneth Slusser

Comments about Squier J5 Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I've been playing bass for about 5 years. Recently, I became inspired by my favorite guitarist, John 5, to attempt learning a new instrument. I figured the price was right for the Squire Telecaster. I absolutely Love it!!! It's very solid, well made and beautiful. It plays like a dream. I can't seem to put it down!!

Comments about Squier J5 Telecaster Electric Guitar:

ok,out of the 8 guitars i own, this one stays in tune the best and was pretty much set up perfectly from the factory.the pickups are suited for pretty much any style of music you play.the pics of this guitar in no way show how beautiful this instrument truly is.John5 is proud of how this guitar copy came out and now i see why.im giving it 5 stars but i do have one issue with it and that is the pickup selector switch is faulty, sometimes the neck pickup wont turn on unless i wiggle the selector switch around, minor issue but should be noted.i will have it looked at by a tech as soon as i can bare to part with it for a few days.i have 7 other very nice/very expensive guitars but this one is by far my favorite.TYVM John5 and Squire for creating an inexpensive guitar that doesnt suck.

Best buy for the buck

By steven mcbride

Comments about Squier J5 Telecaster Electric Guitar:

The Fender J5 is an amazing guitar. I currently have a music man Luke with powered EMG 81 picks which I put this little fender squire in a blind sound test with 25 other people. I played an AC/DC song back in black with both guitars and asked them which one sounded better. Every single person picked the J5 squire as the guitar with the deeper more unique sound. It goes to show you do not need to go out and spend thousands of dollars on a guitar when this little baby is everything you will need. I cannot give this guitar enough credit as it deserves but if you are looking for a guitar that is inexpensive then this is the best bang for the buck I have ever seen.

Like on old pair of comfortable jeans.

Comments about Squier J5 Telecaster Electric Guitar:

This guitar was a total surprise. I bought it on faith without even trying it out first (not recommended). I'm not a fan of Fender type guitars and prefer Gibson SG's, but this guitar had the feel, comfort, and sound of a solid "old school" guitar. I'm glad it came with a rosewood fretboard which is a personal preference. Going back to basics with guitar features I found this to be the ideal guitar to play for Blues, Rock, and even Goth. John 5 is one of my favorite guitarist for his practical sense of music because he has not forgotten the fundamental building blocks of Rock music. I never thought I'd be playing a telecaster but Keith Richard was one of my favorite guitarist in my early music years. It sounds great for many genres of music.

amazing!!!

Comments about Squier J5 Telecaster Electric Guitar:

typically i wont pick up squiers because i dont like them. if im going to play a strat or tele its gotta be a fender. once i learned that squier had released a john 5 signature telecaster, i had to try it out because john 5 is amazing and i love telecasters. from the first strum, my opinion on squier changed. this guitar is amazing. not only do you get a good deep humbucking sound, but you also get the quality of a fender without the price. this guitar will probably last you your entire life with some tlc and trust me, your gonna want to keep it that long.
