Overview

The Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '60s is a rough-and-tumble electric guitar ready for almost any musical situation. With an alder body; rosewood fingerboard; 21-fret, vintage-tint gloss maple neck, this Strat definitely has that '60s vibe but with the modern playability of a 9-1/2" neck radius and medium-jumbo frets. This Squier Strat's tone is thick with a custom set of Alnico V single-coil pickups-a quick attack with a bit more midrange oomph and a bridge pickup that packs a knockout punch! Custom stagger pole pieces provide improved string-to-string balance.

Classic Vibe!

Back in 1982, the very first Squier by Fender guitars and basses came ringing out of Asia. Known for their excellent vintage-quality look, feel, sound, and construction, those early Squier instruments and their Fender-branded counterparts are now highly sought-after collector's items revered by guitar enthusiasts as models of "getting it right" while aiming at value-conscious players. The Squier Classic Vibe Series reflects that simultaneous commitment to excellence, value and vibe. Mirroring classic Fender designs, the Classic Vibe offering is not intended to be era or vintage correct-but rather imparting the vibe of a classic Fender design. Each with distinctive feature set combinations-all adding up to one classic looking instrument. Great sound, vintage looks, unbeatable value-Classic Vibe!

I've been playing guitar for 23 years, and I've always been a Fender fan. I've tried some Squiers before but never was satisfied. Now, on the other hand, I love the new Squiers, especially this Classic Vibe 60's Strat. I've had MIM and American Strats that required a lot of work to set up, adjust, etc. Not the case with this Strat. The finish is awesome, the tone is deep and throaty, the playability is outstanding. I'm a Blues fanatic, and this Strat handles the sound with aplomb. I never use the tremolo system. When I get Strats, I always have the bridge locked down, so going out of tune is never an issue with me. By the way, all Strats will detune when using the Tremolo. I get perfect Texas Blues tones from it. With tweaking the amp, I can also get very nice Neo-classical tones that sing and scream. I'm tired of other professional guitarists saying that Squiers aren't good. I use the Mustang line of amps, and the pairing of the Classic 60's Squier and the Mustang amp is wonderful. Doesn't being a professional guitarist mean that one can use any guitar and make it sing? Just a thought. Always remember, though: what matters is ones' personal taste.

I got this used for much less then normal price. At that price point I still feel like I paid too much. I do not see anything great about this guitar period. Decent looking piece of wood for the body with a decent finish. Fretwork less then good with sharp fret ends and just bad drilling in several spots. The straplock was mis drilled and dowelled and redrilled both the holes for the trem claw were misplaced and screw went through the inside when I tightened up the tremolo tension. Made in China and you can tell instantly. Did a bunch of upgrades right out of the box and I still don't like this guitar. How anyone could compare this to a USA Strat is beyond me , save your money up and buy a better guitar.

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '60s Electric Guitar:

I believe there's about 5 levels of Squires with the Classic Vibe (CV) frequently rated at the top. Each level changes up about $50 starting with the Bullet, Affinity, Standard, Vintage Modified up to the CV. Now I understand when people say "you get what you pay for," I brought 2 experienced (each in several bands from Blue Grass and Country to Rock) to play with it before I bought it. They were surprised to see that, in their opinion, it played and sounded as well as the lower priced MIM fender strats and far superior to the other Squires ("It's a great bang for the buck"). Speaking as a beginner, I found it easier to play then most of the other brands and choices in the $399 price range with several comparable exceptions from the higher end Epiphone line (the Les Paul and SGs). Obviously you need to go a "Guitar Center" and try it and find out for yourself. My best uses are limited because I'm just a novice with only about a dozen chords under my belt, but the chords don't buzz and it's easy on the fingers for a beginner (and I'm guessing, for a more experienced player as well). I hope you'll agree with much of what I've said after trying one out and comparing.

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '60s Electric Guitar:

Absolutely beautiful guitar. Matching headstock too. Burgundy mist is one of the coolest colors on most any guitar but the Strat is the prettiest. Very light, weighs in at about 6 pounds. I love that.
A little "static" crackle from the 5 way switch so I'm thinking about an upgrade to USA made pots and switch. Other than that it would easily be 5 stars.
How does it sound ? Sounds like a guitar.
If Slash played it it would sound like Slash, if Van Halen played it it would sound like Eddie. It is fine playing and sounding. Great guitar for the beginner or intermediate player.

This thing plays and sounds much better than my MIM Star. Don't let the name on the headstock scare you away. If you are looking into purchasing a MIM start try this out first.

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '60s Electric Guitar:

Admittedly I am a Gibson man, but this strat is well worth the price. Light compared to an LP, but has a springy, clean sound. Add some chorus to make a fuller sound, a little gain for some dirt, and this is one great guitar. Although so far it doesn't quite "sing" like an LP, you can still get some interesting and cutting tones. For the money I highly recommend this ax.

Feels very nice to play. The lacquered neck might bothered some people but it's not that big of a deal. Pickups are clean! Probably as clean as the Fender Standard Strat(probably).

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '60s Electric Guitar:

I have owned many guitars through my journey and have been playing for about 12 years. Among the gear that I owned and some still owe are : -2002 CIJ Fender Jaguar, Squier J Mascis JM, MIM Stratocaster, Epiphone Dot and Ibanez Artcore AS73. I absolutely love this guitar. I mostly play Indie/ Shoegaze / Atmospheric / Noise so playing a Strat in my circle is somewhat unusual. This guitar blows away the CIJ Jaguar the MIM Strat and it has a much more better shaped neck than the JMJM ( IMHO) as it is thinner and more comfortable for small handed players. Easy to set up compared to the Jag or JM and extremely versatile. I know that people complain about the trem system on the Stratocasters, but I have been playing this thing for about a week abusing the tremolo and the guitar stays perfectly in tune. The neck on my MIM is a bat and the pickups as well as the trem system are of poorer quality. The only downside is the relatively cheap nut ( that does the job anyways). I have been playing this for about a week and it is the greatest instrument I have owned thus far, hands down.

Most comfortable of my 3 electrics -- Gibson SG and Squire CV 50s tele. Very fun to play. bridge and bridge + center sound fabulous through both my tube kit Tweed Deluxe and tube kit Twin Reverb. The Gibby has a more solid and better quality feel to it, but the Strat is just all around more comfortable.
