Overview

The Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s is an electric guitar that leaves no doubt as to its true Fender identity. With its cool finishes on an alder body and 21-fret vintage tint gloss maple neck, this beauty definitely has that '50s vibe. But you also get the modern playability of a 9.5" radius neck and medium jumbo frets. The tone is unmistakable as well, with a custom set of AlNiCo 3 single-coil pickups. This Squier guitar's tone is clear and bright with terrific sustain even in crunch mode! Custom-staggered pole pieces provide improved string-to-string balance.

Classic Vibe!
Back in 1982, the very first Squier by Fender guitars and basses came ringing out of Asia. Known for their excellent vintage-quality look, feel, sound and construction, those early Squier instruments and their Fender branded counterparts are now highly sought-after collector's items revered by guitar enthusiasts as models of "getting it right" while aiming at value-conscious players. The Squier Classic Vibe Series reflects that simultaneous commitment to excellence, value and vibe. Mirroring classic Fender designs, the Classic Vibe offering is not intended to be era or vintage correct-but rather imparting the vibe of a classic Fender design. Each has a distinctive feature set combinations- adding up to one classic looking instrument. Great sound, vintage looks, unbeatable value-Classic Vibe!

This guitar is an amazing value for your money. I used to be a guitar brand snob before playing this guitar. The feel is absolutely amazing, one of the easiest guitar's I've ever played. The fit and finish was excellent with the body being 1 piece alder. really rare at this price point. The only downside i can see was the pickups, they were very weak and thin sounding. With some new pickups this guitar would be in the same league as the 500-700 dollar instruments in my opinion.

I'll start out by saying the best thing about this guitar- you can't get anything as good as this in this price range. There's no question that Fender in general makes great guitars for the money. Even the American made strat isn't that expensive compared to most guitars. This guitar has upgraded pickups for an entry level guitar, which is nice. They aren't great though. They have better tone than the $100 squier strat but not as good tone as better guitars. Also, while the construction of this guitar is fantastic, especially the light colored, laquered, maple neck, for some reason it does not have good sustain at all. It really doesn't. I'm going to try aligning the neck and see if that makes a difference. Otherwise, the fit and finish is really unbelievable in this price range. If you've never played a strat, you'll love the comfort and easy playability of it. That would be true if you played most strats though. I have been playing my ESP neck through body with active pickups a lot right before picking this guitar up and I noticed a real difference in the sustain, tone, and ease of playing when I made the switch. That's unfair though, as it's a comparison of two totally opposite guitars. If you want a strat, this is as good if not better than a made in mexico strat (i can't speak about the american ones because I've never played one) in terms of fit and finish and all parts except for pickups. I don't think anyone will be really unhappy with this guitar at this unbelievably low price. You may find yourself upgrading pickups after a while though.

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

So I picked up this guitar way back when they first showed up at GC (maybe '09-'10). I have the sunburst version and it is truly a classic look and design. I have been playing guitar for many years and have owned a lot of high end guitars, and still do, but if you are looking for the classic sound and feel of a Stratocaster this guitar is worth looking at for sure. I really loved it out of the box and the fit and finish were spot on. I have done some upgrades over the years. I got some Lace sensor hot gold pickups on sale during a GC memorial day sale, those really made the guitar sing with a more modern strat sound than the Alinco 3 pickups that come standard. The Alnico 3's are ok if you play 50's rock but if you want to drive a tube amp you may want to get a set of pickups. I also added a brass tremolo block. This one upgrade really opened up the tone and brought a really nice bright bell like tone to the guitar. Switching out the tremolo block is super easy to do and it really blew me away how that one upgrade made such a huge difference in tone. And my last upgrade was the Graph Tech saddles that I also purchased from GC. This guitar is now on par with ANY stratocaster, American or otherwise. I love the size of the neck, at first I did not like the feel of the back of the neck as the finish would make it a little bit sticky but I rubbed it with the rough, scrubbing side of a sponge and now it is nice and satin like. Overall, in my opinion this is the best strat you can get for the price and with a few upgrades this can be a stellar guitar that can go anywhere that its much more expensive Fender cousins go. I have played the hell out of this guitar at many gigs and practices and it is a high quality guitar with zero isuues. This is a guitar that will pay dividends for many years to come. Frets are top quality and cut to perfection. Even after years of playing they are smooth as butter. Great guitar, don't miss out, get your hands on one ASAP

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

i bought this guitar to get better because i only had a cheap acoustic from a swap meet before this. i was disappointed that this guitar simply makes playing harder. It is as easy to play as my guitar from a swap-meet. It only has a more notable producer. you are basically paying for the fender sticker on the guitar.

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

My experience- the classic vibe 50s Stratocaster is a beautiful guitar. The finish is outstanding. It has the curves that a strat is supposed to have and the neck is gorgeous. No fret edges, smooth as butter, and the guitar is light, 7lbs. The whammy works great and its easy to bend notes and play on this neck. The neck is wider than regular strats, which is great. Most strat necks are too narrow. I like it better than the mex strat or the American. In fact, I like it better than my vintage strat. It's close because vintage instruments always have something special about them. It's got a lot of output, the bass is really strong and the trebles are more recessed but they are sweet. Overall, well done instrument, beautiful, easy to play, and sounds sweet.

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

So, the neck on this is not as thin/slim as a 54, but it is still a very nice neck. I don't think there is anything that I can play on a 54 that I can't play on this one. I have played some '57's and '59's and my vague recollection is that the necks on those are closer to this one. I have a '64 neck and it's a little thicker that the cv50.

The cv50 has a great sound and feel. I need to play with the action a bit; it came setup by the shop at GC just a bit high for my taste, but the individual string height adjustments on the bridge are super easy to tailor.

          Also, I need to put my string gauges on it. I use .009 | .009 | .011 | .024 | .032 | .042

when I have some time I'll change them and adjust the action at the same time. Stock strings were fine, just not my goofey gauges.

I've been playing strats for over 40 years, and have probably played over 100 different ones from 1954-present. Strats have undergone every kind of transition imaginable from the post-CBS guitars to the present. I mean who ever thought Fender would make strats with humbuckers?

But seriously, if you like the sound of the 50's strats, and I do, then this is it. STOP - DO NOT PASS GO. You gotta try one of these out.

WARNING, take around $400 with you because you won't leave the store without one. I'm just saving you a trip.

              Olympic White 50's Classic Vibe

              from Wilmington Delaware

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

I bought a 50's Classic Vibe in Olympic white used from Guitar Center. Visually it was flawless but... It had a dead fret and wasn't setup properly. Also didn't like the white at all seeing in person. It looked really fake and plastic like. Yes I realize this isn't a lacquer finish but it wasn't appealing to me at all. I wanted to love this guitar as a I bought a classic vibe tele used from GC and absolutely love it. Anyway after just playing it for 5 minutes I knew this wasn't for me and I returned it. I will be looking out to buy another classic vibe as I think they are the better than many of the Fenders costing 3X more.

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

It's the real deal. I knew by even looking at the pictures that it was quality made. Such a steal. ( Don't jack the price up Fender) Had to mess with the string height a bit, still not quite there yet. But it plays and sounds great. I have payed strats worth thousands and this is close to them and will age nicely. I am really looking forward to the Tele CV also. You tube demos are fantastic! Pine bodies again, like the originals. God Bless those folks in china making these. Fender owes them a debt of gratitude. Squire has turned it up a notch. In short; Highly recomended. Hard to beat value.

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar without having the opportunity to play it, and I was not disappointed. I got the Olympic white and this thing is beautiful. I like the glossed maple neck, and the aged plastic parts are a nice touch. The guitar was set up great right out of the box. The guitar has an awesome tone. It has the classic Strat sound, and I have been able to get bell like chimes and gritty distortion out of it. I compared this guitar to my father's American Standard, and the difference isn't as noticeable as one would like to believe given their price points. This is an amazing value.
