CLOSE ENUFF FOR ROCK'N'ROLL

By Michael

Comments about Squier Bullet with Tremolo HSS:

I'M ASHAMED TO SAY IT, BUT THE IMPORTS ARE GOOD LITTLE ROCKERS. LAST YEAR I GOT AN EPI LP w P90s AND WAS BLOWN AWAY BY IT. IT'S ONE PIECE BRIDGE IS THE MAJOR SNAG BUT I KNEW THAT GOING IN. A SET UP BROUGHT IT UP TO SNUFF. SO I THOUGHT I'D GIVE SQUIERS A TRY, AND WHO CAN RESIST A GOLDEN STRAT? I WOULD HAVE PREFERED AN SSS LAYOUT, BUT THE HUMBUCKER'S ACTUALLY OK...LIKE THE SINGLES, IT'S SURE NOT OVERPOWERED, BUT FOR KICKIN' OUT BASIC ROCK (referred to as 'Classic Rock' nowadays) IT'S FINE. I PREFER TO USE THE SINGLE COILS FOR BLUES, BUT IT'S GOT A LOT OF OPTIONS BUILT IN. THE FINISH IS FLAWLESS, AND THE FIT IS CLEAN. COLOR'S A LITTLE MORE 'GREENISH' THAN THE FENDER GOLD, BUT STILL IMPRESSIVE. TUNERS ARE A BIT WEAK, BUT THEY WORK...FRETS ARE WELL LAID WITH JUST A FEW 'BUZZ' SPOTS AT THE 12th FRET, BUT I'M STILL PLAYING THE ORIGINAL STRINGS AND AM WAITING FOR A PEARL PICKGUARD TO GET A SETUP AT A LOCAL SHOP. IT CAME OUTTA THE BOX WITH THE INTONATION PRETTY CLOSE, BUT THE ACTION'S A BIT LOW FOR MY TASTE SO I'M GONNA LET A PRO SET IT UP... (I tried to set the EPI up myself with so-so results and finally took it in...much better results)I'M BETTING HE'LL BE ABLE TO REMEDY MY 'CONCERNS' ABOUT THIS ONE. I'VE BEEN PLAYING GUITAR FOR ABOUT 50 YEARS NOW AND I'VE PLAYED PLENTY THAT HAVEN'T HELD NEAR THE PROMISE OF THIS PRETTY LITTLE IMPORT. I WOULD RECOMMEND A SETUP, BUT IT'S REALLY A NICE LITTLE GUITAR. LIGHT, WELL-BALANCED AND A SOLID FEEL TO IT. IT EVEN HAS THE PRE-CBS HEADSTOCK! NOW I'LL PROBABLY HAVE TA TRY TO REPLACE MY OLD TELE... OR MY LONG LOST GRETSCH JET... IF YOU CAN GET AROUND YOUR CONCERNS ABOUT THE GRAPHICS ON THE HEADSTOCK YOU SHOULD DEFINATLY CONSIDER ONE OF THESE!

Comments about Squier Bullet with Tremolo HSS:

This was my first guitar. It was a good little thing. But that bridge man. Don't go too hard on it or it'll shift and cause a lot of damage. Other than that, it's a good guitar.
