the kind of guitar you can get for nothing today is absurd. modern technology like CNC machines have just made

the concept of "craftsmanship" mostly irrelevant. this is my mini Charvel clone. it probably came out of the same factory in Indonesia,

too, at least as the lower model Charvels and Jacksons are.

it's just a guitar. it's a tool. it's what Fender set out to do and he did it right. it's simple--not quite as simple as a Telecaster,

but basically a tele with a little extra flair, that's all. it's a work machine. it's not gonna be the guitar you use playing at the

White House for the president, and probably not the guitar you use to lay down tracks in the studio. but for learning, practicing,

jamming, and having fun, it rocks hard. neck is solid, no sharp edges on the frets, really slim and fast profile, no gloss on the back so

it's easy to slide around. nice one-piece maple with a skunk tripe. action out of the box was high, but setting it down to 4/64" was

easy-peasy with hardly any buzz. the truss rod works like it should.

and the finish is wonderful. the cons are.. well, obviously a lower end tremolo as on this guitar is going to be a little useless. you

can't do pretty flutters with it, but you can divebomb all day. out of the box it was decked anyway, so for new players it won't go out

of tune. the nut was cut fine and the tuners were tight. just all around a great guitar. the pickups, however, are extremely unbalanced..

the middle pickup seems to be wound really hot, but I kind of dig it myself. there's probably something to be done in the electronics

with the potentiometers and tone capacitor to balance it out, but I don't know much about that. I messed with the pickup heights to

compensate and it rocks nicely, but the sound isn't the kind of butter you'd expect from a "real strat." who cares, though, for a benjamin?

One star review because even though I ordered as New, GC sent me a very scratched model that was obviously pulled from the shelves. Deep scratches too and looks like it's been played for years! It arrived with no box damage and was packaged well. They said they would b happy to exchange but who wants to go through all that trouble. When ordering, request that u don't want store model, I guess. Guitar plays great. GC should know better!

Comments about Squier Bullet Stratocaster with Tremolo HSS:

I bought this about a week ago and can't seem to put it down. Ive had squiers in the past and was never really impressed. This one is the exception. The neck and middle pickup sound awesome. The bridge humbucker is kind of flat. I mostly use the bridge pickup in combination with the middle pickup. Solid guitar after dropping the action and setting the intonation. I did the setup myself though... This may cost you a few doll hairs to have done if you don't know how. I don't really have any complaints about the guitar. The only modifications I will see myself doing would be upgrading the tuners. They work but seem fragile. Super great way to get classic strat tones for under a hundred units of monetary value.

Comments about Squier Bullet Stratocaster with Tremolo HSS:

I buy Squire for modification purpose. When received I just do overall test then disassemble completely for modification. So my review may not help most of you but this is what I feel after purchased a half dozen of Squires:

      1) Body material differs by production lot. Some are noticeable lighter than the other. Some materials are very soft and need care in hole repair/modification.
      2) Squire body is thinner (and lighter) than Fender models but this is a plus for those who do gigs frequently. Weight balance of neck/body is perfect.
      3) Paint on body is good. No complain about it. Shield paint in cavity is nice.
      4) Some screw holes are not straight or off aligned. Some thread is stripped.
      5) Good bridge assembly. Does the job.
      6) Tunes do the job and stay in tune but turning torque is not consistent. To install upgraded tuners you need to enlarge holes to 10 mm diameter (you need drill press - not hand drills)
      7) General wiring is good. No faulty or poor soldering or noise issues.
      8) Pickups are good. However, the last one I got was noticeably muddy and did not hear any difference in neck and mid pickup. Seemed like an issue with tone POT.
      9) Neck is always straight and is good as is. Fret edge finish is rough. It is not difficult to round the edge by sanding and it makes your Squire much more playable. Sometimes I feel minor roughness in the back of neck which can be treated with polishing with hard cloth.
      10) POTs, selector, and Jack are OK.
      11) Strap buttons are securely tight. Nut is good. I do not use tremolo so no comment.

Comments about Squier Bullet Stratocaster with Tremolo HSS:

poorly manufactured. out of the box it needed a complete setup and one the tuners broke off. had to invest another $60 to fix these small issues. other than that sounds great, doesn't sound like a squire but a higher-end model.

Comments about Squier Bullet Stratocaster with Tremolo HSS:

This is quite a nice little axe, especially for the price. Very well manufactured with no apparent finish or assembly flaws. Sounded nice out of the box, though adjusting the setup for personal taste is likely, action was somewhat high for my playing style.

I have both a tube and a solid state amp rig, and this guitar sounded very nice on both, either distorted or clean. Currently own an Epiphone Les Paul Standard, a Yamaha Pacifica, and an Aria MAC Series. This Bullet Strat could be the most comfortable guitar to play I've owned, and I've had quite a few.

As stated, very well put together for a guitar at this price point. Finish is flawless, switches and knobs are sturdy and smooth. I do plan on replacing the tuning heads as the ones on the guitar are very "basic", and the bridge pick-up has just a little too much "twang" for my taste.

As boxed, this guitar would suit a beginner or intermediate player. I've been playing for a decade and with new tuners and a new Duncan or DiMarzio humbucker, I wouldn't be shy about using this in the studio or in a live set.
