Comments about Squier Affinity Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar with Rosewood Fingerboard:

I got a whammy-less one for Christmas last year (such a funny stereotype in my opinion) and it has served me well. It's a overall good sounding guitar that doesn't weigh a lot and doesn't break the bank.

Comments about Squier Affinity Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar with Rosewood Fingerboard:

At this price point the Squier Affinity is a solid choice, as long as you don't have thinker finger pads. I don't have big, fat fingers but my finger pads are thicker than average (top to bottom) and it's hard to fret the chords without touching other strings, there's very little room for error. The nut width is 40.9 mm (1.61 in) and even a 42 mm nut width is noticeably easier to fret. I'll deal with it for now but I wish I had known about nut width when I was looking for a first guitar. If you're curious, look at the Epiphone's, many of their models have a 1 11/16" nut width (42.86) mm. There are a lot of guitars with a 42 mm nut, including many of the Squiers. The Ibanez Gio's have a 42 mm nut and most of their other guitars have a 43 mm nut. Had I only known...

Comments about Squier Affinity Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar with Rosewood Fingerboard:

I bought this guitar for my daughter to learn on. I bought the Olympic white model. I was impressed with quality of this guitar. The first thing I noticed was the color, I've always loved a white strat. The feel of this guitar is nice. It dose have a little weight to it, but the body is thicker than a regular Affinity strat. The frets are finished off very well. The neck is a satin finish, but is smooth and comfortable. The pickups sound good for a guitar at this price point. I can get those strat sounds out of the single coils. The humbucker is not bad, you can make it scream. The tuners aren't bad, they get the job done. The bridge and trem system is where you'll have the problem. Once you start using the tremolo, the guitar dose go out of tune. With that said, that's not a deal breaker. This is a beginners guitar. Just get a good set up on it and that will help. Over all this is a very good guitar and I would buy another one. I think these guitars are a little better quality the the regular Afinity strats. I love playing on this guitar. If I were to gig with this guitar I would change the bridge and trem, the pickups, pots, and the nut. But out of the box you can do some small venues, church ect.

This is my second time ordering and have been totally satisfied each time. The salesman (I think his name was Brian) was fantastic and spent a lot of time with me as the guitar was a gift for my grand daughter. The prices are great and the shipping was very fast.
