I own 24 guitars, ranging from Ernie Ball, Peavey, Gibson, and Fender, but this little Tele is my favorite! I recently started getting pretty heavy into country and flatpicking and just wanted a tele mostly for the tone, and when I picked this little guy up...I was impressed. As far as the play-a-bility of the guitar, it matches my Wolfgangs and Axis. The durability is comparable to some of my high priced Gibsons. I'm leaving it stock....no need to change anything. The pick ups are fine, the neck is fast, and the hardware is good. I'm getting another one in a different color soon as I get some extra cash.

The body felt okay. I only tried it for a couple minutes. Like the title says, the frets are killer, but not the way you'd expect. From the second I picked it up, I knew that they had cut some corners. What I didn't know was that they had done this buy not cutting what really mattered. The frets. They were so sharp that I cut my thumb while feeling the neck. I swear these things could slice through my wrists (which I'd do if I had to play exclusively on this guitar for the rest of my life). The rest of the guitar felt decent for the price. This thing would make a good weapon though. A club and a sword in one.

I really like the guitar,it is very playable except for the fret ends were not deburred at the factory and I had to take fine grade sandpaper to smooth them down. The tone and intonation are quite good and it is fun to play.I would say the factory should take care to smooth down the fret ends as I did irritate my index finger on my fretting hand, but it is okay now.

I haven't played in years and wanted to start up again. My wife took me to Guitar Center and pick out what I wanted, I looked at a few different models and for price and quality the Fender Squire Telecaster is hands down great, action, sound and build. I will be changing out the strings soon and up grade the pick ups later on and then just leave it the way it is.

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar right off the wall at my local GC and, overall, I'm pretty impressed. It was well set-up, with none of the sharp frets or buzzing that some people have noted. I'm pleasantly surprised by how good the pickups are; not perfect, of course, but not bad either. I'm able to find numerous setting on my amp where this guitar positively sings.

My one complaint about this guitar is the narrower-than-standard width of the neck. It has a nut width of 40.6 mm, which is a bit too narrow for my fairly large hands. This difference from other teles, both Fender and Squier, isn't noted in GC's description. If you ever want to upgrade the nut, you'll probably have to do a little finish work to make it fit properly.

Overall, a great value; a nicely made guitar that sounds good and is fun to play.

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special Electric Guitar:

I bought this just because I had always wanted a telecaster and to have as a backup guitar to the Les Paul I normally play. I have been playing guitar professionally for over 40 years and I did have to do a setup on this guitar. The action was too high and the intonation needed adjustment. I took it to the club last night as my backup and started off with it. I was so pleased that I wound up playing it all night. This is not going to blow that $3000 dollar guitar you are used to playing away but it is a nice sounding guitar and, with proper setup, a joy to play. I had read negative reviews about the tuners but they were rock solid and held it in tune all night. Don't let the price fool you. Perhaps I just got a good one but this little guitar is a real bargain for the price and no one should be ashamed to haul it out on stage.

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special Electric Guitar:

My Gibson Studio took a dive from the guitar stand when clumsy me tripped on the guitar cord. Thankfully the neck is fine, but a tuner is bent. It could have been worse... much worse.

I was seeking a cheap beater guitar to play at church instead of the Gibson, and I thought the Rogue Rocketeet RR200 was the solution until I discovered issues with the neck and my hand while attempting to do various barre chords. Not the guitar's fault. It went back to guitar center, and the search continued.

My initial gut feeling was to try a Tele. I was right. I am thoroughly pleased with this Squier Affinity Telecaster. It may very well become my favorite guitar. Some how I've managed to hide my mistakes until now - but when I play it right, it's wonderful. The sparkly clean sound of these single coil pickups let's every note ring thru.

I quickly upgraded from the Rogue to the Squier. The neck was more comfortable. The guitar is both classic and humble in its design. There's nothing fancy here. That's not a bad thing. Read the reviews. Nearly everyone praises the capabilities of this guitar. File the frets down or pay someone to do it. You will have a very capable guitar as either a beginner or experienced player.

Be aware that these single coils will be susceptible to hum/buzz, but you can gradually upgrade both the pickups and internal wiring (shielded cabling?) to reduce and eliminate that issue. That all depends on how handy you feel with a soldering iron.
