I own 24 guitars, ranging from Ernie Ball, Peavey, Gibson, and Fender, but this little Tele is my favorite! I recently started getting pretty heavy into country and flatpicking and just wanted a tele mostly for the tone, and when I picked this little guy up...I was impressed. As far as the play-a-bility of the guitar, it matches my Wolfgangs and Axis. The durability is comparable to some of my high priced Gibsons. I'm leaving it stock....no need to change anything. The pick ups are fine, the neck is fast, and the hardware is good. I'm getting another one in a different color soon as I get some extra cash.

The body felt okay. I only tried it for a couple minutes. Like the title says, the frets are killer, but not the way you'd expect. From the second I picked it up, I knew that they had cut some corners. What I didn't know was that they had done this buy not cutting what really mattered. The frets. They were so sharp that I cut my thumb while feeling the neck. I swear these things could slice through my wrists (which I'd do if I had to play exclusively on this guitar for the rest of my life). The rest of the guitar felt decent for the price. This thing would make a good weapon though. A club and a sword in one.

Perfect Guitar for under $200

By Fendercrazy

from Chicago

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special Electric Guitar:

I just picked this guitar up last night and I was really impressed with it. But first off you must know one thing, the switch stinks and I wish Fender would just put on a better one. So just spend the extra $14 and get a new one. The neck is perfect for me because I have smaller hands. The string height right out of the box is very good and it plays like butter. The sound unplugged is great and just as good thru an amp. For a guitar to be priced like this is fantasic and it's a grerat deal. One last thing is that on the sides of a couple of the frets need to be filed down just a touch. Other than that it's a great value.

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special Electric Guitar:

i bought this guitar in Early December, and i wasnt disappointed. the sound of this guitar is great unplugged and beautiful when plugged with some distortion. i had some problems with this though, i had to file down the sharp fret edges a bit and some of the hardware is a bit cheap. other then these minor problems its a great guitar.

I have been playing guitar for over 40 yrs and have owned Gibsons,Epiphones, and Ibanez guitars,When i decided I wanted something different,I headed to Guitar Center to spend an afternoon checking things out.Isaw this hanging on the wall and when i saw the price,i thought i would give it a try.Needless to say,I couldnt put it down, and 2 hrs later I was walking out the store with it.Neck is smooth and fast(had to dress the frets a little when i got home),tone is great, and it has become my favorite guitar when the urge to play strikes.couldnt be happier with my purchase, and I would recommend it to anybody looking for a Tele

Really??? A Squire???

By Rob C.

from South Portland, ME

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special Electric Guitar:

I have to admit, I was thinking Fender all the way recently when looking at picking up a new guitar. I've been playing guitar for over 20 years, and have always been of the belief that Squier was inferior to Fender. Maybe the electronics are less desirable, and the hardware and pickup switch is a little less than perfect, but the sound and playability of this guitar are incredible. Color me educated. This thing is the poop! On the clean setup for jazz and country type licks, this thing glows, but what really surprised me was when I played it distorted through my Line 6 Spider practice amp. This thing screams. Pinch harmonics squeal out of this thing like rats out of a burning ship. I played a little Zakk Wylde Crazy Babies riffage and the tone was just about perfect. Vibrato and bends are butter, or Pakay, whatever you choose. Setup right out of the box was spot on for me. No need to adjust anything other than tuning it up. It was three days later before I had to even tune it again and that was just a couple of strings and I beat it like it owed me money. And lets talk about the looks department. The butterscotch blonde stain is beautiful. I was blown away with how it looked and the picture on the website doesn't do it justice. This thing is straight sexy. I heard rumor that it was a limited run, I'm not sure how true that is, but I didn't want to miss out and now I'm glad I didn't. This is now my daily guitar which is saying a lot with a Nuno, Les Paul, and a mauve Ibanez whammy monster in the stable. If you're thinking about picking this up, do yourself a favor and don't hesitate. It's great.

I am in love...

By Scotly

from Santa Ana, Ca

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special Electric Guitar:

Went to my local GC and tried out several different guitars, all more expensive than this one. Not only did this guitar produce some great sounds, but it is very forgiving and easy to play even for a novice such as myself. I couldn't find a guitar under $450 that has the same qualities. Cheap + great = love.

great guitar for the price

By Ken Binkley

from Coldwater Michigan

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special Electric Guitar:

I bought this at the Guitar center in South Bend, the gave me a good deal on it. It had a ding down around the jack input and they discounted it as well as gave me a good deal on my trade in. I highly reconmend this store. Overall this is a great guitar for the money. I've been wanting a Tele for a while now and thought I would try this one out. I'm glad I did! The twang is great, the neck PU gives me that bluesey tone that I'm looking for and overall construction and looks are great. I would reconmend this guitar to us low budget muscians anytime.

Good for BEGINNERS

By TerryKathisGod

from Chicago, Illinois

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special Electric Guitar:

About 2 years ago, i had a very big dream to start playing the guitar. I was/am a huge fan of Terry Kath, and this guitar looks kinda like his (minus the color, no stickers and cheap pickups). this guitar was a steal at the price, and i bout a Raven 20 watt amp to get me started. Now, i had been teaching my self for a year and it was going well so i joined a band. my friends were astonished with the quality of this guitar. i ended up needing a new amp, 20 wats wasnt doing it anymore and bought a 75 watt line 6. now as my second year is passing, im deciding that this guitar isnt really going to cut it, im going with a fender. but, this guitar did so much for me and im so greatful that there was a cheap priced but good quality guitar out there. ill never forget what i accomplished with this guitar, playing gigs and that good stuff. P.S., i would go with Fender Noiseless pickups on this bad boy, for the pickups are kinda cheap.

Excellent Guitar

By Patrick

from Jermyn, Texas

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar a couple of weeks ago. I could not believe the quality and the price. It has a clean sound in the first pickup setting and a mellow country sound in the other two settings. Unbelievable string action and unquestionably an excellent looking guitar. I'd recommend this guitar to beginners and accomplished players alike.

a great deal

By doshus

from Tennessee

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special Electric Guitar:

My friend looked at me like I was nuts when I brought it home, but he agreed it was a better value than my old Schechter Omen-6. My only gripe is that the pickups are noisy and the selector is cheap feeling. I am getting a noiseless pickup tomorrow though. I can play Michael Angelo Batio style scales on it and it feels like butter. Maybe it's not meant for that, but the look and feel of a Tele are my thing. It stays in tune as did my Tom De Longe Strat (Squier also!) and the neck is sweet. Consider a shred guitar if you like that style, but this one isn't a joke.

Amazing!!!

By Guitarguy

from Plano

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special Electric Guitar:

I picked up this little jem on a whim, I wasn't really looking at the time but I couldn't get over the amazing sound. The finish is beutiful the neck is nice and reminds me of my friends American Strat. I spent about 20 minutes switching between this and a made in Mexico tele, to compare and see if I could notice a difference for $230.00 Not much of a difference to justify the extra money. The pick-ups are a little noisy so I just ordered the vintage noiseless, the top of the frets need to be filed down (no biggy) other than that I have nothing negative to say about this beutiful Tele. It stays in tune, it sounds great clean or distorted, I am completely satisfied and it is worth every penny and more. I promise you will not be disappointed.

This guitar really is as good as the other reviews make it appear to be.

By Kyle

from Dayton, Ohio

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special Electric Guitar:

I recently decided that I wanted to learn how to play guitar, so I looked around online for one. I ended up choosing this one and I honestly couldn't be more happy with it. I bought a Roland Micro Cube to go along with it, and it sounds great! When I went to go buy it, a fellow customer offered to play it for me so I could hear how it sounded since I had no experience playing guitar. I was surprised at how versatile it was. He played a variety of songs from different genres and they all sounded fantastic. Needless to say, I was very impressed. If you are considering buying this guitar, just go ahead and buy it. You won't regret it.

My first under $200 guitar and impressed

By RBailey

from Memphis

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special Electric Guitar:

I have been playing for abotu 15 years, and I picked this up the other day for "giggles". I got it home, plugged it in, and the sound is amazing. I can not believe this is a guitar that sells for under 200 dollars. It is my first Fender, and it will not be my last. I am planning on picking up a better model in the coming weeks because of this gem. It plays and sounds better (this is player preference) then any of my other guitars, which includes a recent Schecter C1 Plus. I will never give this one up, it is now my pride and joy and I can not put it down. The selector is of very poor quality, it was the first thing I noticed, but the rest seems to be a pretty solid entry level guitar that even us guitarist that are past entry level will be impressed with the sound and playability. The action it ships with was very friendly for me, which is rare because I do have smaller then average hands. You would be a fool to pass this one up.

Better than anAmerican Tele

By LJ

from Norwich, England.

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special Electric Guitar:

I kid you not... I tried about 50 Teles (and Tele look-alikes) before buying this one. The reason I chose it above the Hohners, Disy Rocks and, yes, even Fenders, was because it SOUNDED BETTER. Honestly, with this and a Fender Standard American Tele both plugged into a Blackface Twin, the Squier p***ed all over the Fender. The pickups are great, but do the simple mod. to earth the cover properly and replace the switch with a four way, and you have a gorgeous Tele sound and the added bonus of a humbucker's poke. I did change the pots last year as the originals get dirty fairly quickly, and I swapped the capacitor for an Orange Drop. Total cost of all the modifications, $25.

great deal, sounds good

By Robert

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special Electric Guitar:

i got rid of my strat a few years ago and was wanting another electric since i only had acoustic to play with. Wanted a telecaster and they had a great deal at the store. after getting over the fact that it was a squire i bought it. It came with a free fender amp so for 185$ out the door i had this guitar and a little amp to plug it into. After playing it I was very pleased. Plays easy and sounds better than the squire strat my friends and i use to have. For a deal like that you cant go wrong.

Decent Guitar

By ab

from Bay Area , Ca

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special Electric Guitar:

I gave this guitar just 3 stars because of the Squier logo on the head of the guitar. It gives the guitar a cheap value package Xmas gift type look to it in my opinion. I almost sent this guitar back until I start really playing it. This guitar has an awesome feeling neck that feels similar to alot of higher price Fenders. The sound is very good for a guitar at this price and to me its more of a lead guitar rather than rhythm voices. I have an Epiphone and Ibanez that cost more an sound better but the Squier has a better feeling neck good for speed. To me its a nice practice guitar and home recording guitar. If you can't afford or don't want to shell out the money for the more expensive Fender Tele this guitar is a nice substitution if you can get pass the cheap looking Squier logo. The rest of the guitar is really a nice buy.

Wow.

By Jarrett

from Beaumont, CA

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special Electric Guitar:

Wow. I am a guitar snob, and I love this little beast. I plugged in to a Line 6 Spider III 15 Watt, a Marshall MGFX 15 Watt and a Marshall JCM 100 Watt Full Stack, and it sounded great. The color is eye-pleasing, and the sound can be grooving, to ear bleeding shred!

Well worth the $$$

By Chris Brenner

from Evansville, IN

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special Electric Guitar:

I bought a Squire Strat at the end of 2010, however due to my small finger stretch, and the fact that the intonation was off, and it did not stay in tune well, I exchanged for the Tele. I did need a little bit of a set-up to eliminate fret buzz. But after that, this thing is hard to put down. It sounds very good unplugged, and it does not overstretch my finger. And...it stays in tune very well. I had a Fender strat a few years ago (which I had to pawn to make a car payment), but I have to say I like this one better.
