I bought one of these just because I never had a Tele and never thought I would like one. That is, until I played it. Now this inexpensive guitar has become my favorite. I have 5 guitars and all cost more than this one from Stratocasters to my Epiphone G400. This is a great sounding guitar for light rock, blues, or country. The only thing it lacks is that super distortion crunch that only comes from a humbucker. That's okay though, for that style I pick up my G400.

I bought this guitar about 3 months ago just to mess around with. It actually has a good sound compared to other Squiers. It is a good guitar to start with, but if you are experienced, you'll want a better guitar. So if you are looking for a good Tele...better check out the Fenders. But, if you are just getting started, it's not a bad buy.

good inexpensive 1st electric guitar

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I am primarily an acoustic player but I wanted to try an inexpensive electric just for fun, etc. It's an ok guitar. The frets are finished well enough that they don't interfere or feel sharp on the ends. As set up out of the box there was no fret buzzing and intonation seemed fine. The tuners seem ok and stay in tune pretty well. The only problem I've had with the guitar is the cheesy plastic plate that the jack is attached to. Any strain on the cable will break the plate. I went to a hardware store and bought a piece of brass sheet metal and cut out a small rectangle and drilled the proper holes, problem fixed.

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

As usual, as soon as I get a guitar I have the bridge/ nut / neck adjusted and I put a fresh set of strings on it. I can,t get over the flawless finish on this guitar. The neck is comfortable. The sound is clear and crisp. I own several Teles including an American Standard. I bought this guitar with a coupon. Squire guitars have come a long way. Another positive note about Teles is they are easily customized. I would recommend this guitar for beginners or as a back up.

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Squire has been building some excellent guitars in recent years at very reasonable price points.
I have several and they are really outstanding guitars for their price. 30 years ago you paid top price for any guitar that played and sounded good. Now you can buy a decent guitar for pocket change.
This guitar has a very nice neck and is well built.
I currently have 47 guitars and several of them are Squires and they are very good quality and play and sound great. This is a good guitar but:
THIS GUITAR HAS THE WORST PICKUPS OF ANY GUITAR I HAVE OWNED. YOU SIMPLY CANNOT MAKE IT SOUND GOOD.
Do not buy it unless you plan on replacing all of the electronics, pickups, pots. switches, all of it.
I had my first bad customer service experience with Musicians Friend in 20 years of doing business with them.
The customer service representative had the audacity to tell me to stop buying inexpensive guitars and started lecturing me on the need to replace all the electronics on any Squire I buy and said "well what do you expect".
I have been making money playing guitar since before he was born and he was telling me that I need to buy better guitars. Many of my guitars are worth more than his car.
I have had 100% satisfaction with Musicians Friend for 20 years and have spent a ton of money with them. Hopefully this is just a bad employee and not a policy change.
Do not buy this guitar unless you want to buy all the electronics to change it out. In that case just get yourself a Fender and you will be happy.

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I bought the left handed version of this guitar and absolutely love it. Right out of the box the set up and intonation were on point. The only thing I didn't like about this guitar were the pickups. They sounded dull and very twangy, not in a good way, and had a little bit of noise in the background. A friend recommended Entwistle pickups, I had a pair installed and this guitar sounds as good as an american custom shop. Great buy for a lefty with few affordable options, upgrade the pickups and you have a great sounding guitar for less than you would pay for a standard telecaster.

Absolutely love this guitar. Great bang for the buck. When comparing it to my old 65 tele, two things come to mind. The strings do not go through the body, but it does have individual string saddles.

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

This my second affinity series tele. This one I bought for a gift - the price is oh so right - and the quality of the instrument in both cases far surpasses anything within a couple hundred dollars of it. I should say up front that if your used to a fat full sound - you'll want to look elsewhere - you'll have to turn your amp up at least three notches to get the same volume level you would from a humbucker. But I've found that to be the case on every single coil setup relative to the bigger humbucker sound.

This guitar is great . I have been playing 30 years, owned guitars in all price ranges. If I didn't see the name or price tag I would never know it was a budget priced guitar. The tone and feel are great. Also the frets are finished well so no sharp edges on hands.
              Great guitar for the price.
