Comments about Squier Affinity Series Stratocaster HH with Tremolo Electric Guitar:

I bought this on a whim when it was on sale at a steep discount. It's a great looking guitar. Once I lowered the action & adjusted the intonation, I was really surprised at how wonderfully it plays and sounds. Feels good in my hands. I like the thin, lightweight body. The pickups are a little weak but unless you're comparing it to a guitar with more expensive pickups, you'll never notice. I'm getting great tones out of it through my trusty old Fender Sidekick. Looking at the wood in the neck, you do see a few knots and imperfections in the grain, but - at this price, who cares about that!?

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Stratocaster HH with Tremolo Electric Guitar:

Squire by Fender Quality & Control continues to fail. I have purchased 9 guitars in about a year now, and three of them being Fenders. I won't go into detail about the other Fender guitar issues as this is about this Candy Blue Squire Strat HH. First the guitar was loose in the box which caused a rub on the fret board on one side of the first fret. The worst is the small crack at the neck to body joint. You all know where I am talking about when a factory worker forces the neck into the joint and causes cracked wood to show through the paint right in the same spot. I have had now on two Fenders with in a month. One I sent back. The crack was not too bad, but I couldn't live with the front pickup not working. Maybe this is why another large guitar manufacturer mostly uses a set neck method?
Next, the paint did not even come close to looking as good as it does in the picture. Usually I have found the opposite is the case when I have received guitars. I know that heavy metal flake paint can be a challenge around corners and tight curves. The edges almost seem to be only about 75% cover by flake, and grey in between.

I had read and seen reviews on the internet stating that the action as almost perfect out of the box. This was not the case in this example as the truss rod was so loose it took almost a full turn before it even stared to engage. I had seen another reviewer had the same issue. This took a great deal of time with very slow short adjustments and then measure with no movement at all, and then finally it engaged and the neck moved. After that, the bridge needed substantial lowering as well until I found the sweet spot. All I can say is out the box the action was very high.

Okay, I will through out a couple of positives...
The neck is very straight, and the wood grain at the back looks beautiful! The skunk stripe is real, and not a stained fake as is suspected on the Squire Classic Vibe Telecaster.
The front and back humbucker pickups sound pretty good!

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Stratocaster HH with Tremolo Electric Guitar:

This guitar looks great in pink with the matching pink lettering on the headstock. The neck is good, nice fret work. It stays in tune nicely. Based on feel, it's a great guitar to just pick up and play. The downside are the pickups. They are very weak sounding. Very tinny. Will need to swap them out for something with more body.

A lot of tuning was required out of the box. The truss rod and saddles were all left in neutral positions.
