I have been playing guitar for about 3 years. I bought this guitar about 6 months after i started playing, and let me tell you this is one of the greatest guitars i've played. You can get all kinds of different sounds with its 2 single coil and double coil pickups. There is very little feedback and it sounds great through my Fender 210R amp. The only problem that i have experinced with my this guitar is that in the first few weeks of spring and winter it comes out of tune more often, but i consider that a very minor problem. Overall this is a great guitar for the money. I highly recomend it.

You get what you pay for. When you buy a guitar cheap you know what you will get. Invest in something a little higher but if you cant this is ok. This was my second guitar. This guitar would get out of tune so easily. You strum a G chord you are then out of tune. The bridge would float but this sounds cool when you hit it. You will hit the toggle switch easily also. It shows a lot of scraches to. I am usually playing gigs and because you get out of tune easily I do not use it. But it is good if you just play as a hobby

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Fat Strat Electric Guitar:

i bought this a year ago and it hasn't failed me I don't play gigs, but i love the sound i get when i turn up the gain on my crate amp and switch to the humbucker i get a really awesome rock sound. plus when i switch to the single coils i get a great sound for blues. tuners are great, i rarely have to tune it. A good guitar for beginners but might surprise an intermediate player too

Squier Affinity

By Joe

from TN

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Fat Strat Electric Guitar:

Great first time guitar. I use one with a Randall 20 watt amp. The sound is great. The single coil pickups are a little weak for metal. I use the double pickups always for rock. The single coils are great for country has that Waylon Jennings kinda sound. Guitar is built very nice real comfortable to play sitting or standing. I did take the tremblo bar off and never use it because of the tuning issue. A locking nut would have been great. Great neck that is very easy to finger. Speed players will love it. All and all a great little guitar and the price is affordable to most everyone.

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Fat Strat Electric Guitar:

kk...i read a lot of reviews of this guitar before thinking of getting it... i think this one product that is very underrated...but let me tell you, this is a great guitar..seriously AMAZING! hmm..people say that squiers are of low quality and it can be used only as a beginner guitar and so on...but thats all bullcrap..no problem at all... i tried playing on an ibanez 170dx also, and i had my eyes on that since people told me that strats aren't good for metal...but once i played on this...i just fell in love with it..!!! i play it with a LaneyLX35d amplifier and i can easily cover for metallica, maiden, megadeth and so on..!! i like the trem system too...probably goes out of tune a bit..but i dont mind tuning it again!! this is a great guitar and good for almost any kind of player.!!! get it NOW!!!! 5stars!

Amazing Guitar

By Matt

from Fruit Heights, UT

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Fat Strat Electric Guitar:

This guitar is the best first guitar. I thought it would just be a cheap guitar with bad tone quality but when I first played it, the sound blew me away. You can pound out heavy metal or stir up some electric blues. If you want an amazing all around guitar, get this one. It's a great price, it comes in three different colors, and it is a phenomenal guitar. I love this guitar!

awsome beginner guitar

By robby

from OC

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Fat Strat Electric Guitar:

this is an awsome beginners guitar. it was my first guitar and i love it. one of the most comfortable necks that i have ever played on, durable, and awsome tone out of the original pickups. stays in tune pretty well unless you use the tremolo a lot then it goes out pretty badly but other than that its a great guitar for the money. the paint on it gets scratched up easily though, mine has tons of belt buckle marks on the back of it and a few scratches on the front but i covered the guitar in stickers so you cant see any of the scars. so over all great guitar for beginners.

Good Starter

By Cody G.

from Greensboro, NC

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Fat Strat Electric Guitar:

This was my first electric guitar i bought, But these are not only good starter guitars they are perfect for my style of music play, the floating bridge is great, and the only real problem is that the G-string always, always, ALWAYS!, goes out of tune, other than that 5 stars

Great for beginning

By Mason

from CA

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Fat Strat Electric Guitar:

For those just starting out, this is the guitar for you. It's a pretty good guitar for the price. I had it for about a year before I got an upgrade. It was very easy for me to learn with this guitar and I've been completely satisfied with it. I do not recommend this guitar for any advanced players however.

Great beginner guitar

By Dillon

from TX

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Fat Strat Electric Guitar:

This was my second guitar to go along with my SSS Squier Strat. I've had it now for 9 years, and if not for an ill advised stop at a 'qualified' technician's shop (not affiliated with GC in any way) it would still be my number one. The neck is about as versatile as it gets, good for chords, lead play, or just about anything in between. The pick-ups are great for beginner's and this is a guitar modifiers dream because of its low price and good quality. I now have a Seymour Duncan Hot Rail in the neck position, Texas Special Neck Pickup in the middle position and a DiMarzio Tonezone in the Bridge, and this baby can rip and roar for any style I need. The features are very simple and long lasting. If you see the reviews about "I bought this guitar and it broke..... blah blah blah" thats just kids who don't know how to take care of an instrument. This guitar survived High School, College, and my two year old, it can take anything. (oh and that idiot technician)

My first single coil

By 3DaysOlderThanDirt

from Regina, Saskatchewan

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Fat Strat Electric Guitar:

Always played acoustic 6 and 12 string and a Yamaha HH electric. Have been interested as to why you see so many single coils being played by the pros. Now I know - the versatility and clean sound is unsurpassed. It may not be a real fender but for the money you can't beat the sound or playability - I had to set up the bridge and intonation, but the tools were provided and all you need is a tuner. Now it's all I play.

Range

By Madmax630

from Florida

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Fat Strat Electric Guitar:

Due to the bridge humbucker and the two single coils, this guitar has amazing tonal range. You can get any sound you want out of this guitar. It can sound like a Les Paul one second then with a flip of the pickup switch it can sound like a good old Strat Standard. This combined with a decent multi effect pedal is a beautiful thing. The wood used is a rock solid, but a bit heavy. All in all this is a great guitar for music of all styles. Great Value too.

Ok for beginners

By Sean

from Mi

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Fat Strat Electric Guitar:

The Fender Affinity strat is mostly a good beginner's guitar, it is inexpensive and well built, but for players who are becoming more experienced, this guitar is not so good. The tremolo tail piece lifts up frequently, causing tuning problems, the tuners are fairly good, but the frets buzz a lot, unless you raise the action uncomfortably. A good beginner's guitar though.

Just Okay

By Frankie

from New Jersey

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Fat Strat Electric Guitar:

I've been playing guitar for a couple of years now. I went over my friend's house to see his new guitar. This was the first guitar he had ever played. It's a decent guitar for if you're just starting out. But it goes out of tune very easily and the pick ups aren't all that great. If you're looking for a second guitar that's decent but cheap. I recomend getting the Epiphone Les Paul.

Great for Beginners!

By Jake

from Pa

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Fat Strat Electric Guitar:

Well I bought this guitar about 4 years ago, and let me tell you it is a great guitar. It may be a "Squier" but it is still made by Fender. The 5 way selecter is awesome and lets you play in many tones. The neck on this guitar feels really good, and is fairly fast. This guitar can jam metal, or just really nice clean blues, or country. I recommend to anyone looking to buy their first guitar.

A Great First

By Kirsten

from Virginia

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Fat Strat Electric Guitar:

This is my first electric guitar. I like it a lot. It is not perfect but it does give a nice tone. I play a lot of hard rock so the hummbucker comes in handy. I will admit that the frets do buzz sometimes but but it soon goes away after you have played on it for a while.
