i just got this bass a little while back, and even though i outgrew it in like a week it's a really nice simple bass that will definetly stay in my inventory for a long time. this is a great bass for any style of music you want to play whether it be soul or metal. definetly the best starter bass for this amount of money. do not buy the sets that come with an amp an everything cause everything in it is poorly made

I bought this bass when i started playing, and at the time i thought it sounded great, when i didn't know any better. The tone controls barely affect the sound, and the input had to be repaired two weeks after i started playing it. It's good for beginners, but if you wanna get serious you'll have to find something much better.

Got this for my son for Christmas. He's 9 so didn't want him dragging my huge bass around and potentially breaking foot or the bass! Great punchy sounding bass guitar. I feel that I could gig with it too!

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Bronco Bass Guitar:

I play 1-2 times a week with a full band in a live setting and this is my main bass. I have the Indonesian build model (the better of the two sources). The frets and neck were all good. I play using flatwounds so the strings got replaced right out of the box with Rotosound flatwound short scales.

I found no major flaws in the body, paint or structure of the bass. First things - it plays fine out of the box but setup is not easy with the stock bridge. You will not get good intonation at the 12th fret, I had to tune it using the 5th fret to make it work with the stock gear, which is not good. The stock pickup is widely known as a poor choice - its a cheap strat-type mass produced single coil pickup. It does the job, but it isn't ideal. I swapped out the stock pickup for a Seymour Duncan dual rail which made a really big difference in the tone. I have to keep the pickup close to the body because it is LOUD.

The bridge is also junk - again, having a bridge where you change two strings using the same intonation screws means that you have to compromise and either have one string out of intonation or both "close" to but not exactly intoned properly. I bought a brass bridge with individual intonation screws and swapped out the bridge. I also set the new bridge further back and now this little bass rocks hard. Problem solved with about 30 minutes with a drill and screwdriver.

So, basically, for about $150 and some elbow grease, I took a basic instrument that is very comfortable in hand but didn't intone properly or sound fantastic and made it sound like a little monster. With about $75 in parts I have a fantastically fun bass that is light and incredibly easy to play and sounds like something far more expensive. Yes, I could have bought a $200 bass that would setup right out of the box, but I really like the size and weight of this bass and with the mods, it blows away the usual $200-$250 priced bases (I have had a few of those and this now beats every one of them).

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Bronco Bass Guitar:

I have short fingers so playing bass can be challenging. The shorter scale on this bass makes it easier for me to play... I've wanted one for awhile now... Sounds good through my Ampeg BA 110.

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Bronco Bass Guitar:

I took lessons over a decade ago..and quit when I was really getting the hang of it. #regret.
Now I'm picking it up again..square one..so I put my full scale jazz bass down..and started relearning with this..so I wouldn't get discouraged. Glad I was told about this. I love the size and probably stick with short scale even as I advance.

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Bronco Bass Guitar:

I own 2 of these. I bought both used from the guitar center website. Once you adjust the bridge and the neck properly, they begin to be very usable instruments. I am a big fan of Lace pickups. I installed a lace sensor purple in one of these and the bass became more versatile after that. I could be wrong, but I believe that it's best to use the same size strings with this that it came with. I find that it's easier to get decent intonation that way. The lace sensor purple really took this bass to a much more professional level. I am able to get a much wider variety of usable sounds now. I have also found that my effects boxes like working with the lace sensor purple alot more than the stock pickup did. Owning 2 of these, I found one to be a little heavier than the other.

Cool little bass for the money.
                Records nice.
Fast neck and pretty good set up right out of the box.
Fine tune the bass with your own set up and you'll be good.

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Bronco Bass Guitar:

I've played regularly in 3 bands and I love it. It's not a bass to pick up and wail on, because it doesn't perform well like that. This bass will teach you cool control over the strings and tone. It's a great instrument to learn some string sensitivity on. If you level up after this one, you'll be in great shape.
Don't skip this because it's short and looks like a toy- these short scales can produce some great thumping tones. You can jam without wearing yourself out.
