The Squier Vintage Modified Stratocaster SSS has a gloss finished maple neck, three Duncan Designed single-coil pickups and a vintage six-saddle tremolo. Special features provide a "personalized" touch. A customized classic electric guitar! 9.5" neck radius allows for easy string bending and pickups with Alnico 5 magnets deliver bell-like tone.

  • Squier Vintage Modified Strat

    I own this Squier Vintage Modified Strat in Cherry Sunburst Flame. This is not a beginners or entry level guitar but a serious vintage style Strat. The workmanship, detail and finish are top notch. The Duncan designed pickups are bright, clean and a true enhancement. All controls are smooth and solid. I own several Squier guitars and with some modifications are all up to the task but this baby is perfect right out of the box. India has created a true gem here. Adjust your string height to your liking and your intonation as you would with ANY new guitar and you are good to go. The stock strings are fine but I switched to my favorite strings for strats and teles. I have owned a Fender 57? Stratocaster reissue modified with Seymour Duncan vintage Strat pickups and this Squier Vintage Modified Strat is equal to it or better at ? the price. Packaging is a basic no frills cardboard box with allen keys for adjustment and no manual for those not familiar with Stratocasters. Unless you must have the large Fender logo on the headstock and have any extra $800 to $1000 to spend, buy this guitar, you will love it!

  • Five Stars for This Category of Guitar

    I have a few decent guitars: Epiphone Alleykat, Fender Classic 50's Player strat, Ibanez AF105F, Ibanez AS73, and a true gem--a Switch Oscar 4. I was noodlin' around a GC and was hypnotized by the paint job on this Squier...I mean, it was one of the most beautiful paint schemes I'd ever seen. So I tried it and found it easily playable, with hot hot hot pickups, thin finish. It felt a little lighter than a Fender strat, so my right quadricep was appreciate. Listen, parents: If your kid is clamoring for a strat type guitar, this is the one. I wish I could have found the dough and a reason to take it home, it was that fine. Match this baby up with a Peavey Bandit--hey, I'm trying to be easy on your pocket books moms and dads--or even a Fender Frontman 65R and watch your son or daughter smile...at long last! [I prefer maple fretboards, but the rosewood one on this model helped tailor a very crisp but smooth tone...now I'm thinking I'll get one anyway.]

  • No Brainer

    The short & sweet of it is, all things considered, this is the best of the "value-line" stratocasters out there. Plus, if your interested in the cherry sunburst (what I chose), be forewarned - the red is bright, Ferrari-esque red, unlike the pictures. Nevertheless, it is stunning woth the flametop. Did find it necessary to add some Fender by Schaller locking tuning machines - the stock ones are really the only weak part of the guitar. Like I said - buying this one was really a no-brainer!
