  • Great guitar at a good price.

As reviewed by mike kane on 9/9/2013

After lusting after a Cabronita for quite awhile I was excited to see it offered as a vintage modified model.I already own a VM Jazzmaster that I was quite pleased with.I ordered the guitar on labor day using the 15 % coupon at GC.I figured for 255.00 shipped it was worth a gamble.I received the guitar in three days. The fit and finish on the guitar were excellent.Even though I am not a huge fan of black finishes this one looks good with the contrasting white Pickguard. The Fidelitron pick ups sounded great through .my fender champ and Epi valve jr.stack.They have a unique sound that fits this guitar nicely.A little more trebly that a filtertron pick up.They still maintain just enough of the tele sound to let you know you're still playing a fender. The neck was perfect, just a little relief with excellent fret work and no sharp fret edges. The set up was really good right out of the box,but I always fine tune my guitars to my liking. The stamped fender bridge looks good and was perfectly intonated.Tuners seem to be quite stable.I may replace them down the road, but for now they seem fine. All in all I think this guitar is an excellent value.I've already started saving for the Bigsby version of this model.I hope fender continues to expand the squier series and offer even more models like this.

  • It's black and white...

As reviewed by John K Jones on 9/16/2013

Just bought the Cabronita Tele today at the West LA store. I had seen the previews on the web and was looking forward to seeing it in the store. This is my 10th guitar and my 2nd squire. When I got to the West LA store, I plugged in the guitar was surprised at the sound. I thought it might have been the amp at the store, but sounds just as good on my Fender amp at home. Why I bought this guitar. 1) I liked the look of the black body with the white pickguard. I like the vintage look. And, it feels good. 2) Squire. I had bought another Squire strat and was very happy with that guitar (that guitar was in the same price range). I have a Fender MIM strat and I don't play it as much as I do the Squire. 3) The pickups. FideliTron Humbuckers. I really like the sound of these pickups. They are different from my other guitars. For me, it is a great guitar for the price.
