Inspired by the custom shop.

Squier’s Vintage Modified Cabronita Precision Bass comes out swinging with pulse-pounding tone, sultry-yet-simple style and a welcome dose of feisty Cabronita attitude. Might have something to do with its single powerful Fideli’Tron humbucking bass pickup.

Other features include a maple neck with “modern C” profile, comfortable 9.5”-radius maple fingerboard with 20 medium jumbo frets, single-ply white pickguard, dual knurled flat-top control knobs (master volume, master tone), four-saddle Hi-Mass bridge, and vintage-style tuners. Available in only one formidable color—black.

  • Nice axe for the dough.

As reviewed by Terry Longden on 9/9/2013

I was impressed with the playability right out of the box. The neck has great feel and seemed to set up properly prior to shipping. As many do, I was too was hesitant of buying a Squire however this is my second Squire P-bass and for the money, you just can't beat them. The only draw-back of the Carbronita is the humbucker PU Kind of disapointing. It just isn't quite as strong as I'd like. Tone is OK but volume is low. Overall though, again, you can't beat it for the dough.

Many years ago I saw a Squier bass and didn't know what it was. I learned it was a Fender brand, but made in Asia instead of the US. I played and loved my Fender Jazz Bass for a decade or so and I must admit, held un-reasoned prejudice toward the Squier brand. I guess you can say I looked at it as a Camaro compared to a Geo Metro. Due to budget concerns of late, I looked deeper into the Squier brand and I found the stick at Guitar Center. I never liked the P-Bass' very much either but this one caught my eye. I played it at the store and really liked it. I bought it. (Tax return). I love it now. I use an Ampeg BA-108 practice amp and it really sounds good. The action was a little high but that's not a design flaw, just needs to be adjusted. All-in-all, great lows, nice pop on the highs and I like the range on the tone. Some guitars you can't even tell when the tone is high or low. This one I can.

  • Sexy

Pretty nice bass once I got it set up. It was pretty much unplayable out of the box. Sexy and smooth. Good tone but not very loud. Plays and sounds better with flats. I wonder what this thing would sound like with a vintage single coil pickup?
