An electric guitar that evens the playing field for southpaws.

The left-handed Squier Standard Stratocaster plays great, with traditional vibe and modern feel. Player-friendly features like the slimmer neck and 22-fret fingerboard make for easier playing, and the die-cast tuners are lifetime-lubricated for years of trouble-free service and tuning stability. A twin-pivot bridge with satin-anodized saddles provides smooth tremolo action, and the single-coil alnico pickups sound great! Available with maple or rosewood fingerboard.

  • Great Guitar lefty or righty

As reviewed by John H on 10/29/2010

First off, the "Standard" part of the name should tell you this isn't an Affinity ( which is a lower model than the Standard line anyway). For all intents, this is a foreign made Fender Stratocaster similar to the USA Standard Strat. That said, it is a great guitar. The neck is smooth and comfortable with the same classic Fender neck curve. The body is Agathis, similar in quality to Alder ( used in USA Strats). The pickups aren't exactly Fender Noiseless USA's, but sound nice with a little of the classic single coil hum. They really do have a great sound for this price range. If you are starting out or want a backup / alternate axe, this is a great guitar backed by Fender. If you are a pro, you probably aren't looking at this review anyway. As a lefty, I know great affordable axes are rare, and Fender nails it on this model.

  • Great starter or backup guitar

As reviewed by JOHN on 12/7/2014

I bought one of these a few years back as a starter guitar. Liked it so much I sold my Epiphone SG soon after. The price is perfect for starting out, and the quality easily matches or out does anything in it's range. I have since gone to higher priced Fenders (2 Strats, 1 Tele), but loved this Squier. I do have a lefty Squier P-Bass special with the same Antique Burst and it is absolutely gorgeous. The wood grain on the Agathis is also stunning. Wish Fender used this color option on Mexico and USA models. Just know as good as these are there are some differences to the North American models. The bodies on the Squier "Standard" are about .100 thinner than standard Fender models. The electronics aren't bad, but also not USA. But, for the price you can easily upgrade it with a set of Seymour Duncans and sound better while still being in budget. I'd put a Squier "Standard" with Duncans up against any Epi, Schecter, or other Asian built model and stand tall.

  • This is NOT a superstrat

As reviewed by Alan on 10/24/2009

I ordered this guitar in-store last week thinking it was a superstrat but when I picked it up I realized it was only a stratocastor. They called the company and apparently the item has the wrong specifications. The specs are totally off. What I received was a standard strat instead of the affinity series. I'm not really complaining about the quality because it is actually better than the Affinity superstrat in terms of build quality. This one has the upgraded two point pivot tremlo system, alnico pickups, and a much better design on the body, with a deep red diamond speckled pick guard. I would give the quitar a higher score, unfortunately it was not what I ordered, and instead of returning it and having to choose a different guitar (I was told Squier does not make a left handed superstrat) I have decided to keep it anyways unless I can find a left handed superstrat for the same price. Other than that the description should be changed ASAP before they get more angry customers.
